Opinion: I love this camera. My first DSLR coming over from film. When I got this camera they just released it and haven't looked back. The feature set is good for it's price point. At last shutter count I was at 38k +. Never had a problem or issue. It is a good all around shooter with the capability to swap lenses for different situations or your own personal shooting style. My recommendation is if you are interested in getting into the DSLR world get an EOS XXXD camera and start learning. You will love the lenses that are available and the price range allows you to go cheaper and give you room to upgrade your lens as you get money and improve your skills.

Opinion: Отличный фотоаппарат для любителя - начинающего.Компактный размер ,удобная эргономика.Функция
Live View очень удобно.

Problems: нет выхода синхронизации вспышки,что неудобно для студии(предметная съемка).Громкая работа затвора,это и привело к переходу на 50d(и не только это)

Opinion: Really amazing camera! Great amount of options and features that allow a wide range of photography types in different sittuations. A little bit expensive but it surely is worthy.

Problems: AF in evaluative mode is a little bit unpredictive, using spot metering will get better results

Opinion: I bought this as a twin lens kit. The lenses that came with it produce average-to-OK results but nothing too flash (photography humour :-). I've since added a Canon 100mm macro lens which I'm fairly happy with. Although I'm not getting the macro clarity I had expected, it's beautiful for portrait work. Please feel free to look at my photographs at Flickr - vwilliams.biz.

It's relatively easy to adjust the settings (as long as I can remember where they all are) and there are more than I'll ever use, but it's good to know they are there. The main ones are pretty much at your quick-to-access fingertips.

Overall, for approximately AU$2500 (which includes the added macro lens), I am getting results I am proud of. To complete my lens set, my next investment will be a wide-angle but, due to the cost of the Canon lens, I'll be settling on the cheaper Sigma 10-20mm.

Problems: My main complaint: it is quite uncomfortable to hold for extended periods. My right hand gets sore/cramped as the camera is relatively heavy (for me) and uncomfortable to use.

I use SanDisk Extreme111 memory cards - whether it's the card or the camera, it can take a little long for the camera to stop being 'busy' and be ready for my next photo (frustrating if I'm trying to shoot consecutive shots quickly).

It’s not easy to disable the flash.

Opinion: not so good as I thought......

Problems: IQ is not so good unless you buy a better expensive lens ,because with a kit lens is disaster......no more comments .

Opinion: Exellent value/quality camera.
I come from EOS 5 film camera and it is my first DSLR.
I am always surprised about people criticising plastic bodies. I still have my eos5 (semi-pro camera) that I bought in 1995. it is made of plastic but have no visible scratches (exept hot shoe, and near the tripod screw) and it did not break because of my heavy L lenses attached on it. So I expect the 450D/Xsi to be as long lasting...just don't drop it from a cliff or take a bath with it.

The 450D has all the functions you need to take good pictures, the rest it up to you.

It is light so good news if you walk about for a whole day.

You can buy this relatively cheap camera and go for more expensive lenses.

12MP is good enought for me (and for most of us) as I do not go bigger than A3 format and I do not spend my time looking at picture blown at 200% on my PC. I like to see the whole picture.
I use prime lenses and L lenses and IQ is very good. I also bought the 10-22 and it work very well.

Get good SDHC with this camera.

Excellent battery life.

Some complain about focus, but it work very well, do not go full auto and stick with the central AF point (cross type).

I had to choose between 500D and 50D but didn't care for more pixels (and more noise), uncomplete video capabilities, and they are both not wheaterproof. So I went for the 450D/Xsi. I'll wait for Canon to come with the 7D mk2 then maybe I'll upgrade.

Problems: Size is a bit in the small side and the first thing I bought after the camera was a battery grip. Now it is fine.

My 450D does overexpose from 2/3 to 1 EV and I have to compensate all the time or correct it with DPP.
So I wrote to Canon who asked me to send it back to be checked and I am waiting for it to come back, I will then correct the IQ from Good to excellent (hopefully)

Frame per second maybe a bit low, but, how many time a year do you need more. I did airshows without any trouble.

ISO 1600 but again, dont need it very often and with good lenses and/or good flash no pbs.

Opinion: after years of taking pictures of aircraft in flight using a fuji superzoom with olympus tcom extender with fair results I decided to bite the bullet when a good deal came up on a 450+kit + 300mm lens.
Verdict is I should have done it years ago as taking pictures is now fun not frustrating.

Problems: downloading via elements 7 from camera can be a bit hit or miss.
