Opinion: This is a great camera!
My first "professional" camera!
I have been using since 2008, and it never disappoint me.

I have two lenses: Tamron 18-200 and Sigma 50-500, but the most used is the Tamron.

This camera has great controls, easy menu, and for any beginner, it's very easy to work on.
With a Canon 400D you will be very confident in what are you doing.

Opinion: I am using it shooting in Greek Soccer Superleague games, with a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS lens.I am completely satisfied with my images, considering the limited ISO of the camera.I am alson shooting nature, portraits and everything an enthusiast likes to shoot.I also shot under the rain without protection,in very low temperatures of -4 C and it worked perfect!A feature that is not mentioned in the review is the pixel density which is very important. This camera is many more than a piece of X00D series!

Problems: The continuous shooting is a little poor(3fps/s),but you can't have everything in a DSLR!

Opinion: This entry-level DSLR is amazing! The picture quality is great and the menus and button layout are very easy to use. Some buttons are programmable. It is built so well, the body is plastic but feels so strong and sturdy. I reccomend it as a first or secondary DSLR.

Problems: AF is not too sharp, otherwise it is perfect.
USB, AV and remite plugs cover annoying to open

Opinion: Having used it in football games with a canon 70-200 2.8 IS lens the images were great. The only disadvantage of the camera is the slow continuous shooting but it was not so difficult to overpass it!The density pixels/sensor is a very important feature which is not known to many photo enthusiasts! It is very good in low lighting and portrait photography too.The battery can shoot about 400 times in very low temperature(0 C)!Compared to canon 500d with same light conditions, the same lens and settings 400d took much better photos!Visit my gallery and send me your comments!Thank you!

Problems: It's slow for a journalist because of 3fps/sec.

Opinion: I bought this excellent little camera two years ago having upgraded from a 350D.

* Very good image quality, some noise at 800ASA but still usable at 1600.

* User interface and menu significantly improved on the 350D.

* Light and compact although body is somewhat plasticky with small hand grip.

* Totally reliable no problems encountered, overall highly recommended.

Problems: None.

Opinion: Its my first DSLR - I upgraded from a Fuji S5600. I have had it for 9 months now.
It takes great pictures. Obviously good lenses will really let it shine. I am fortunate to be able to shoot with a 16-35L f/2.8 and 17-85mm IS plus the good ol' 50mm f/2.5 macro amongst others.

The annoying thing is the rather inconsistent exposure from the flash unit. I avoid using it as much as possible. With the Canon speedlites its all kosher.

Problems: It recently sprouted an Err99 at 23K actuations. I absolutely tried everything as suggested on various online forums. All indications are that the shutter is buggered :-( :-(. In my opinion 23K is a really low actuation count for any DSLR even an 'entry level' model like this one.
Unfortunately but not unexpectedly, this has soured my ownership experience. I took great care of my camera and I am considering upgrading to used 1Ds MkII or 5D MkI (haven't the werewithal at the moment). They are both built tougher and FF is something I would like to try.

Opinion: I have a PowerShot SX10IS witch is a super camera and I will keep for a back up. But I needed to step up,so I got Rebel XTi, And I love it.But I had to get a lens for it. That 18-55 that Canon put on it is crap.Sham on Canon for that. I got a 17-200mm coming so now I should be good to go.So far I am very happy with Canon and there support team is super.

Problems: No problems yet. But I have to wait for my lens to get here. And I wish it would take the same SD card that the SX10IS has so I would not have to buy new cards.

Opinion: Images Very beautiful with lens Canon 24-70mm L-Series, This lens with the camera says it really is. Excellent Images.

Problems: The 18-55 mm lens that originally came with the camera is the worst.
