I'm seriously considering buying the 300d. Any suggestions on where (reputable store)I can buy one at a good price?

Err99 is the message you will get on your camera if you try using it with older EOS lenses (Canon or any other brand). I've got several Tamron and Sigma EOS lenses which are approx 4 years old. 2 out of every 10 shots I take result in an Err99 message which freezes the camera and you have to turn it on and off. Contacted Canon who said speak to the lens manufacturer. Contacted Sigma who said that if the lenses were not that old, they could re-chip them at a cost of £35 sterling. My ...

I finally recieved the D70 & 300D from my boss that I'd requested, what....three months ago. Of course I was blown away with the 300D when I first checked up the specs of it. I labled it "Liquid Gold" when selling it, as I was extremely impressed with the quality I was seeing. After using and testing it, though, I have come to see it slightly different. It still takes real nice pictures but it just does not feel, to me, like it is worth the lable "Liquid Gold" There are a few things that I ...

Camera is quite fast. Image quality is great. I have only 18-55mm objective included in the kit. Taken now about 1500 pictures. I appreciate ISO range setting, 1600 ASA gives plenty of possibilities to get pictures without flash. Compensation tuning (-2..+2) is easy to use and valuable feature. Problems: There occurs Err 99 about once per 10 shots. Camera has to be restarted, no battery removal needed. I have tried it with one another Canon objective in one shop. I took about 10 pictures ...

This camera has the feeling of a toy, made from cheap plastic. For a $1000, I'd expect a better construction. If you are considering this camera, take a look at the Nikon D70 and compare for your self.

-5000 picures later, overall a good camera but was disapointed with some weaknesses. -I use the manual modes only. Very poor white balance. I always have to retouch the photos with photoshop. -In the automatic modes, all pictures are under-exposed. -Many features willingly programed out. I guess the good people at Canon lure you with a low-cost(relatively) attractive SLR package and after a short while, the consummer want more and in a not too distant future give in to the camera upgrade ...

As I read the reviews on this list I am beginning to wonder if Canon has a quality problem with this camera. Without doing the statistics, the vast percentage of those that purchase the camera, love it. There is a minority that do not and for the same reasons. As a matter of fact, I had the camera for 10 days and 300+ pictures and was unfortunately disappointed and returned it. AF issues, underexposure and softness compared to my Nikon 995. The DR is very fast and is easy to handle. I ...

Returned it after 3 days. I personnaly feel Canon took the wrong short cuts on this model. The AUTO mode is virtually useless in anything less than perfect outdoor lighting. AUTO even on SLR cameras is designed for those unplanned shots. You know the ones that you don't have 60 seconds to change your settings to accommodate the scene. I have used older and newer point and shoot cameras that take far nicer pictures on AUTO and Program modes. It's a great camera but sorry folks, I cannot accept ...

This is my first DSLR camera. Coming from S100, S45, S400 and S50 cameras this camera is much faster with better image quality. Overall picture quality is good, though some pictures are underexposed (easily fixed in photoshop). The 300D is light and fun to use. Much less noise at higher ISO settings compared to my other cameras Problems: under exposed pictures from time to time Stuck pixels in slow shutter speed Night Scene Mode (2 seconds @ 400 ISO). I did exchange the camera for another and ...

crippled meetering, crippled focusing... No flash compensation made me downgrade this camera for the features rating. The camera focuses very fast even in low light and the flash is quite accurate. I understand that there is some occasions when a flash compensation would be needed but it is not available Shame Canon for removing such basic founction! The LCD is very soft and does not show the photo as it is. It shows the photo much more blurred that it is really so it's hard to judge if ...
