Canon EOS 300D (EOS Digital Rebel / EOS Kiss Digital) User Reviews

Announced Aug 20, 2003 •
6 megapixels | 1.8 screen | APS-C sensor

This camera is my first DSLR. One reason why this camera is a great value is because they house is in plastic, instead of a more durable/protective material. This hasn't affected my judgement on the camera, but keep this in mind for what your focus will be with whatever camera you choose. I'm pleased with the digital file. On the highest JPEG quality setting, it makes 8 inch by 10 inch files (3072x2048 pixels at 180 PPI). This can be easily enlarged and not suffer from much quality loss. ...

I have the camera for two weeks, after test the result is in progress. It gives me fully control of any light situation. I used it mostly to shot wild birds by using 100-400mm IS lens. It gives good results under plenty of light, by using aperture 5.6, shutter speed 1/800 and ISO200 parameter 1, in a raw format. It yields good results. I am quite happy about it. Problems: cheap plastic constuction. when lens and body is locked in place you can still turn the lens slightly. When I put a heavy ...

There must be something wrong with my drebel as I cannot see anything on the LCD when I want to take a shot. All the other cameras (A79, A80, A95) have this feature. I have sent this camera for repair. Problems: LCD broken.

I hate this camera. I've had it for 6 months and I wish I never bought it. Just thought I'd check in (June - 05) and say I still have this camera and I still hate it. Tons of noise, white balance stinks. Problems: Over exposed images on sunny days, even with UV filter. Pictures from one shot to the next are exposed differently. Images with so much noise I think my head is going to explode. I had a g3 before and wish I NEVER got rid of it for this camera.

Hi All: I am still in the stage of surprise ( from the day when this camera first introduced to the market untill now) when most of you here all agree that Canon EOS 300D is a good camera for the money. Here is my experience with ...

It is an entrance level DSLR. The plastic body seems not to be a real problem, but the silver color and plastic contribute to a very cheap appearence. A black plastic body would be nicier. I don't like its metering system. I miss the spot meter, and the average centered metering is not controlledby the user. My other important complain is about the flash sync limited to 200 making fill in flash difficult in some situatios. The lens in the kit is just a toy, but better than none. The image ...

Since it´s a Canon D-SLR and they haven´t built a bad one yet, i won´t go on about the usual good stuff. Problems: My didn´t focus properly with the 75-300 IS, often backfocusing. Same thing only much worse so with the Sigma 1.8/28mm DG. I gave it back and got a used D60, which i already knew well. Focus is slow in comparison with the 300D/Digital Rebel, but dead on with every lens i´ve got, Canon or Sigma. That´s what counts in the end of the day. I will get the 20D now. The 300D is not bad, ...

I bought the 300D after downloading and comparing sample pictures from all of the current dslr's. It showed it offered the best cost value. So that I could use the money saved on the purchase price on high quality lenses. But I have been very dissapointed in the performance. Problems: The first thing I did with the 300D was purchase the optional battery grip. Now the 300D really performs. The camera and lenses really came to attention with snappy performance which seems like twice as ...
