Opinion: The 300D is an excellent camera to start photography, even to get money from it, the camera gets better when you integrate these the Firmware Hack, which gives one the feeling of having a 10D, is somewhat slow, but eventually you get used to.

His material gives a good a feeling of professional camera and has excellent grip, comfortable, its 6.3MP, and its compatibility with EF-EFS, give the 300D a good job as an excellent camera.

Problems: Slow Processing, 1.8 LCD, Plastic Body, Slow RAW Conversion, Not E-TTL II, Sligthy Dark Viewfinder.

Opinion: I checked out the images from a 450d and a 500d from this site and thought, hmmm these don't look that much better than my 300d. So, as an exercise I drew on paper the 300D 3072 x 2048 and then around it the 4752 x 3168 of the 500D. Ahhh I thought there's the difference, not very much!! Then on the A4 to A3 paper size principle I worked out the doubling of the 300D size and it comes to 6144 x 4096 or 25 Megapixels.

I then blew up a 300D image to 500D size and there's not that much difference, the ordinary person in the street, who looks at the image and not the quality wouldn't see any difference at all.

I've made over 8,000 images with my 300d regularly have and sell 15" x 10" prints, never had a problem with it and will wait for the next 600D? (25 MP) when Canon and the rest can truly say that the image size is actually, visibly, better.

Problems: None

Opinion: I do like this camera, but then I like all DSLR`s really.

The problem is, is that so many other DSLR's are better. The 300D just lacks too many useful features (tho' a crack firmware exists to allow 10D features).

IQ is fine when used correctly. But the 10D doesn't cost that much more used, so get that instead.

Opinion: The Canon Eos 300 D (europe version) is still a very good camera, the resolution is enogh for me (6.3mp ) this camera won't bother you with options most people don't use , i like that . This camera is not super fast but decent enough to deliver a good image.

That the camera shuts down when opening the CF door is not handy but unfortunately you have to live with it.

what this body does extremely well is let the photgrapher decide how he or she wants to shoot a picture this camera shoots it , records it and plays it back.

the handeling is very good too, it feels solid and heavy enough to be a camera and not a toy thing ..

i like that i has interchangeable lenses , other whise it would be a hughe compact camera. It has also dummy proof mode (green rectangle aka auto mode) , p, tv (aka S ) , av (aka A ) and A-dep this is a mode for sports with all 7 focuspoints in action..

The battery life with the normal kitlens is good to excellent and with a IS (image Stableliser) fair to good
my tip is buy this camera with a fast cf card (aka 200x ) it helps to keep the camera writing times as fast as can be especially in RAW ..

Problems: none

Opinion: I got this thing when it was still hot off the production lines, not yet available in my country I risked ebay and got it from the UK. It was very expensive for a part time employee and I spent all my tax-return on it despite owing people money, credit card debt and bills to pay.

I never regret that decision.

The minute I got it working I was in love and love it today even as "out of date" as it apparently is. It still takes incredible pictures and I have LITERALLY fallen off rocks and my face suffered far more damage than this sturdy little camera, which still worked even when the lens it was wearing broke into pieces. Still works just as good today as when I got it and it's been bumped about in bags, on planes, in luggage and all manner of drizzle, rain, wind, you name it.

The pics are great - of course the lens makes a difference but really it's so very flexible and you can really make your mark as a photographer. The manual it came with was big, fat and extensive - it came with lenses that were for my money very good (I'm only amateur after all). I bought a little 28 and 50mm prime and have made prints that sit on my office wall and when people hear it was a digital camera everyone says "Wow, what great colour, what sharpness, what a great camera!" I do macro work with flowers and landscape work and my walls are ablaze with colour and detail.

Everyone comments - what a great camera!

Problems: None at all. I love this ole thing and will likely never sell it.

Opinion: Had many of these cameras in between glitches (Nikon D50, D100 etc) but still come back to it. Being a repairer of cameras (digital and film) I tend to look at other things as well as picture quality. The 300d is about as simple (mechanically) as any camera can be - most of the work is done by the lens. there are several stock faults (error 99) caused by the shutter, lens incompatibility, bent CF pins which can mean a new main board etc. But in spite of all its failings you can't help but be amazed at the picture quality!! It does in my opinion what any of the dearer ones do (epecially with the hacked firmware), who cares if its made of plastic- any digital will die if dropped on concrete regardless of whether it has a magnesium alloy body ( lens mount is still plastic inside) take it from me if you can get one do so - my latest cost me £120 from ebay (with usual faults all repaired at no cost) and all this rubbish about the kit lens being useless - I compared it today with a sigma 17 - 35 top class lens and couldn't really see any difference!! BUY ONE NOW!!

Problems: see above

Opinion: good camera for still scenes shootings in RAW mode, but not when you have to make some serial shoots

Opinion: Bought camera due to desire to accomplish better outdoor shots than my Nikon 5400 would render. I originally, and still desire, to purchase the D50. But the price on EBay gave me an option to move into DSLR, sooner than expected.

I tried this camera out, initially on a wedding. But the 28-55mm lens was not sufficient to do a great job without being obtrusive to the ceremony. Yet the photos, once cropped looked nice. As I used the camera it became easier to obtain better and better shots. For any companies first economical DSLR, the 300D is a wonder.

I have shot waterfalls that were so crisp it looked as though I had accomplished the shoot with a Mamiya 645 or 6x7 medium format camera. I am purchsing a zoom, and other lenses. Although I still desire the D50 (I have many Nikon products; brand loyalty), the 300D is no slouch.

Problems: Camera did not come with software CD, so I had to scramble to get a copy.

Opinion: I purchased the 300D in spring 2004, and used it quite extensively as my first Digital SLR for about a year. I enjoyed the crisp pictures this camera afforded me, the entire time I only used the kit lens, as I found it to be adequate for my needs.

The camera is relatively easy to use.

Problems: Construction: The 300D just felt cheap in my hands. Maybe it was being spoiled moving from a Nikon N90 35mm SLR, but the 300d just felt like it was going to break if the wind was too strong... Not a good feeling to have.

When I first purchased the camera, there was a decidedly short list of EF-S lenses. Not THAT big of a deal for me, but I would have been nice had lenses been released a little faster.

Also I found that the manual settings weren't quite as intuitive as I would have liked.
