Opinion: I have now used both the D1x and the EOS-1Ds. The Canon cleary provides sharper pictures and is a exctremly high quality camera. In order to get pictures where the colors agree with the actual reality,it takes a lot of settings. The normal pictures appear "cold", slighly blueish with no warm clolors and underexposed. While Photoshop can correct many things, the N1DX seem closer to the colors and contrast without special setting. The 1Ds with its menu is overwhelming. I like the fact that my 24 mm lense now works as 24 mm ,while the N1DX and wide angels is a problem (1:1.5). For both cameras I am missing real brown colors like some wood have. In claity and other features both cameras are a delight and i can recommend the 1Ds to evryone who is willing to spend the money for a camera, that will have a long lifetime. Even higer then 12 Megpixels for normal formats dont mean much. There will be newr models I am sure, but i dought the incremental improvement will make the 1Ds obsolete.

Opinion: - Although the weight is high the specs are even higher. The 11 million pixels gave me for the first time a quality better than analog (ISO 100 setting).
- CMS-settings are superb. (Adobe RGB)
- Whitebalans is perfect to choose.
What do we want more? Nothing but a few millions of pixels and maybe the price will go down a bit.

Opinion: What a camera! Too many great features to list. My favorites are:

The best AF there is in the market (excluding the 1D), period.
Rugged build. View finder accuracy. Full frame CMOS sensor. 10-shot buffer even for RAW.

Problems: Have to wait 2-3 seconds to review image taken.

No built-in flash (for fill-flash purposes only).

I wonder if lithium ion would have increased battery life.

Magnification on playback not high enough.

Expensive.

Opinion: We use several professional digital cameras. But this one has the best combination of portability, quality and resolution. 95% of our outdoor work can be done with this wonderful machine.
