One of the best cameras you will ever own if you can find a good used one. Bought mine with 3500 activations. Problems: Battery life not wonderful but the camera makes up for it in most other ways!

The 1Ds is a superb performer in terms of image quality, and can picked up for a song on the 2nd hand market (if you can find one!). I bought mine for $NZD1000 as a 5 year old ex-pro unit, and apart from some rubber peeling away from the metal alloy body, it's built like a tank! I wouldn't be surprised if it's actually bullet proof, it's that tough. Not recommended for use above ISO320 unless you are shooting low contrast subject matter, but gives astonishingly good results with long ...

Bought this camera used for a great price as I wanted to increase quality but could not afford the new 1Ds Mk111. I certainly have not been disappointed. Superb image quality if the camera is used with care, its definately not a 'snapshot' camera and you need to take time to learn how to get the best from it. I use mainly for Landscape and portrait work and it gives superb results. A great camera that gives great results when used properly. Needs good glass. Have had no problems with dust, ...

Even at 4 years later, I still find this camera amazing! People should seriously consider it in the used market especially for people who is good in post processing. And the way the camera was built, I believe it can last "for ever".

Even years after it's release, the 1Ds is a great camera. I have owned the 1D, 1D2 and now the 1Ds and am amazed at the quality and ease of use of the full frame body. My work is mainly in the studio and I have no regrets buying this camera. The file size is outstanding and varies between 9MP to 11MP depending on the image. The price has become affordable compared to the more recent 1Ds2, but at 11MP it is still a great value. Problems: The file is slower to load, but the sheer size justifies ...

The 1Ds is my fourth digital and by far, the best. Bought the 1Ds second hand, hence, extremely good value for money. Excellent to use, especially for macro photography. The weight, balance and hand grip allows me to take a lot more photos free hand than with any previous camera. Sports photography is possible but the 3,3 fps is somewhat limiting. Excellent battery time. Problems: Small backside lcd and the magnification zoom is no good - it also adds 0,5 Mb to each Raw picture. Read a lot ...

Excellent value as I bought it secondhand. The image quality apart from a little dust, which I must deal with, is absolutely stunning and I'm used to medium format. It's close to MF, certainly. The camera comes on fairly quickly and I've more or less mastered its use in a few days. I would prefer if it has an ISO wheel and a few more tradition type controls. It's unnecessarily heavy in my opinion. The resolution is so good I can't see the need for the 16.7 mp of the latest model. I've used ...

Problems: Under modeling lights in studio, the autofocus is not 100% precise, even with fast and expensive lenses. Better switch to manual focusing. You will see the difference.

1 series body construction is an addication itself. Imagine quality is top class, amazing cropping power and details! Wish it had 5X or 10X digital playback zoom. I still prefer the D30 control dials, where I can change ISO one hand. I got a 2nd hand so value for money these days is excellent! Go get a 2nd hand!
