This lens is a work horse. I've used mine heavily since it came out under often challenging weather conditions. It AF's extremely well, the IS works very well, the build quality is purely pro level, it takes commonly available 77mm filters. There is very little to find to say negative about this fine lens. I bought mine used 2years ago :-). At first the images looked a little soft when shooting wide open but this was easily corrected by increasing the sharpness. The AF on this lens is simply flawless. It works EVERYTIME, TIME AFTER TIME. I also have a Tamron 70-200mm. I bought that new beforehand and its a lovely lens but its AF is both slow and very much a hit and miss affair. What can i say about this lens. Even though it is the first version of the lens I own, it has never seized to amaze me with the sharpness it gives to my images. Even with the 1.4X II extender it has not let me down!
