I recently purchased the Canon 600D/Rebel T3i along with 18-55mm IS II & 55-250 IS II lenses. I don't have a big budget and its just my hobby(at least as of yet :P)! Only th 40mm f/2.8 STM and 50mm f/1.8 II lens comes within my 3rd lens budget! Should I go for it or not waste my money on it? Remember I have an APS-C sensor... and if I should go for a 3rd lens which one should it be? The pancake or the nifty fifty? Please advice! Thanks a lot in advance :D

I live in the U.S & just ordered Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 lens directly from Canon (due to an existing firmware advisory). However, instead of a standard red-n-white colored box, mine arrived in black-n-gray and was made in Malaysia instead of anticipated Japanese copy. Everything that I own by Canon is in their trademark red-n-white boxes, including batteries, lens caps, straps, etc.. When contacted Canon, they told me “they ONLY make them in black/gray” boxes and that “red and white” is for...

Hi, I just need some opinions on what I should do. As of right now in my bag, I carry a Canon Rebel T3i with 40mm f2.8 and Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6, so I got some coverage in the ultra wide range and the portrait range. However, I'm not quite satisfied in this consumer camera; I have the urge to upgrade to a Prosumer or Professional/FF body. I have a friend who is willing to sell me his used Canon 5D MK1 for $450. I want to know if I should sell my Sigma to own a 5D for portraiture and the T3i as...

I own the 50D and also the t4i and I have one single lens: the 17-55mm 2.8 canon.  The only thing I shoot with these cameras is my kids, in my home.  I had thought of selling the 50D and using the t4i for both my pictures and videos.  However, I'm beginning to think it might be better to use my 50D for my pictures and the t4i exclusively for video (that way I can keep a flash on my 50D and a hotshoe-mount mic on my t4i, for example). I'm thinking of using my 17-55 for the stills on my 50D and...

Hey everyone - first of all, if this is better suited for the Canon Rebel forum, let me know and I'll post it there.I just picked up the T4i/650D with the 18-135 f/3.5. One aspect of the setup that I feel is lacking is  that my indoor pictures at a modest ISO (I don't like to go above 1600) are requiring a pretty low shutter speed, even when at f/3.5. I currently can rarely get faster than 1/8th of a second, and if the subject is moving at all, it comes out blurry. Since I got this camera for...

Hi All,            I'm on the verge of getting a Canon 650d/Rebel T4i and have decided to get it with the 18-135mm STM and maybe the 40mm STM as well. It's the later I'm not sure I need early doors on my return to SLR photography.  I want to keep to a budget 800 GBP (900 GBP max) bearing in mind I will need a memory card, tripod, bag etc...Do you think I should make the 40mm prime a future purchase or do you think I will get use from it straight out of the blocks. I anticipate shooting the...

Just received my Canon 40 f/2.8 STM, I updated the firmware successfully to v1.2.0 on the 5D3, and I have a simple question, when selecting AF points using this combo (41 cross types only option selected), I see some lines of AF points missing.I am aware of the different lens groups, but I couldn't find the 40 STM amongst them, but I thought that since this is an f/2.8 lens it would show all AF points as usual. Both my 100 Macro L & 200 L show all AF points and they are f/2.8 lenses as...
