Hello all, new to the forums. I've been a camera enthusiast for a few years now, taking photos as much as I can with my T2i with 18-55 kit lens. I recently bought a Canon EF 40MM "Pancake", though when putting the lens on, it seems to be quite tight in turning to click in with the camera body. Is this a known issue for the 40mm, or is there something wrong with the camera or lens? Any suggestions? Many thanks, JC

Dear all, I recently purchased a 40mm EF lens f/2.8 stm. To my surprise when I mount it on my canon 350D, the light metering seams to be all off. In automatic setting It takes pictures that are very over exposed. It also insists on using the flash when it's not necessary. I can make a good picture when I adjust shutter speed myself (Tv), but I would like to use the automatic settings (the green rectangle). This is now impossible because it over exposes everything Is this a known issue? Is...

Friends, I need your inputs and opinion again. I'm mainly into Nature and Wildlife photography (Specifically Bird photography) and my current setup is a Canon EOS 60D, Canon EF-s 15-85 and Canon EF 40mm. Would be picking a Canon EF 100-400 Mk2 shortly. Had finalized on Sirui P-424 monopod with L-10 Tilt head and was about to place an order, and then thought if I just go only with a Monopod what about Nature/Landscape or Cityscape or Night photography which comprises of about 40%....So, I'm...

Hello All, My current gear is Canon EOS 60D, Canon EF-S 15-85 and Canon EF 40mm. I have been doing bird photography for about an year, for these I have been renting lenses Canon 100-400 (60%), Canon 300 F4 (10%), Canon 400 F5.6 (10%), Canon 300 f2.8 (20%). Lens rental in India was relatively cheap and I could rent them for a min of 1 Day(~1% cost of the lens for every rental). Now, after moving to Nottingham, UK, I find lens rental is quite expensive and since min rental is 3 days (every time...

These are some of the pics i took just to show the weird result i want to show. All images were shot using a tripod and the lens was in MF. I find this weird sharpness issue in the 40mm pics since a couple of months. I know that this lens is super sharp from f2.8 from my initial days of using this lens. Can anyone help me in finding what exactly is wrong with this lens. Its still under warranty.I don't see any traces of fungus on the lens. I don’t quite know how to describe the problem, but...

I recently purchased the Canon 600D/Rebel T3i along with 18-55mm IS II & 55-250 IS II lenses. I don't have a big budget and its just my hobby(at least as of yet :P)! Only th 40mm f/2.8 STM and 50mm f/1.8 II lens comes within my 3rd lens budget! Should I go for it or not waste my money on it? Remember I have an APS-C sensor... and if I should go for a 3rd lens which one should it be? The pancake or the nifty fifty? Please advice! Thanks a lot in advance :D

I live in the U.S & just ordered Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 lens directly from Canon (due to an existing firmware advisory). However, instead of a standard red-n-white colored box, mine arrived in black-n-gray and was made in Malaysia instead of anticipated Japanese copy. Everything that I own by Canon is in their trademark red-n-white boxes, including batteries, lens caps, straps, etc.. When contacted Canon, they told me “they ONLY make them in black/gray” boxes and that “red and white” is for...

Hi, I just need some opinions on what I should do. As of right now in my bag, I carry a Canon Rebel T3i with 40mm f2.8 and Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6, so I got some coverage in the ultra wide range and the portrait range. However, I'm not quite satisfied in this consumer camera; I have the urge to upgrade to a Prosumer or Professional/FF body. I have a friend who is willing to sell me his used Canon 5D MK1 for $450. I want to know if I should sell my Sigma to own a 5D for portraiture and the T3i as...

I own the 50D and also the t4i and I have one single lens: the 17-55mm 2.8 canon.  The only thing I shoot with these cameras is my kids, in my home.  I had thought of selling the 50D and using the t4i for both my pictures and videos.  However, I'm beginning to think it might be better to use my 50D for my pictures and the t4i exclusively for video (that way I can keep a flash on my 50D and a hotshoe-mount mic on my t4i, for example). I'm thinking of using my 17-55 for the stills on my 50D and...
