For several months I owned the EF 35mm f/2 IS USM, EF 40mm f/2.8 STM pancake, and Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art simultaneously. Over that time I had plenty of opportunities to figure out where I was happiest with each. I knew going in I was going to sell 2 and keep 1. Regarding my thoughts on the EF 35mm f/2 IS USM... It's a very nice lens. Accurate and very sharp. I love it as my every day street photography default lens. The only one thing which disappoint me - Canon doesn't provide lens hood for this lens. Original price of this lens was around $[*]. Now it's $[*]0 and no Lens Hood? Sadly the lens has one major flaw....  The awful ...

This lens replaced my 'original' non-IS 35mm.  It was a good lens, but the loud AF, crude MF, and optical quirks made me want for something better. This new lens is much larger, but does not feel the slightest bit big or heavy on a 6D.  It feels rock solid and looks fantastic.  The front element is HUGE. AF is fast and precise - there was more noise than I expected (compared to an STM lens), but nothing to worry about. MF plays over a long range, with a stiff (but precise) ring that feels ...
