I am in Australia, and have been using a Canon 24-105 on several different camera bodies starting in 2009 with a Canon 50d, then a Canon 7D, and now on a Canon 5D111. I use this lens as a general walk around lens.  It has had, generally, a pretty easy life over the past 5 years.  I have several other CAnon L lenses. My wife also has this lens ( 2013 model) on her Canon 5D111. While in London last week, I suddenly had a lens failure with ERROR 1 displayed. ( "This indicates a communication ...

The Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is a real walk-around general purpose zoom. Not to big, not to heavy, IS, very nice reach and good IQ. I like it more than the 24-70 F2.8L, witch is big and no IS. I bought this zoom when it came out ans still you it with lots of pleasure. Second hand you can buy it real cheap. I do think the lens has an construction failure. My lens creaps like crazy and I have heard that of many owners. A transport lock is missing. That spoils a lot, because the zoom shines ...

I love this lens! It was my first L Series lens and has shown me the light. I cannot fault it. Its sharp, fast to focus, has IS. The fact that it is only f4 doesn't matter if your camera performs well in low light (like the Canon 6D mine is attached to) because you can bump the ISO up to 1600 and still get clean, sharp images in low light.

This is a very usable "standard zoom" lens for my EOS 6D Full Frame camera which I bought together as kit a month ago.  Its range coverage is big which makes it very useful for almost all the time. The center sharpness at f/4 not perfect but good enough.  This has drastically improved started at f/5.6 and more stops down.  The accuracy at low light conditions in my experience is good (together with 6D's ISO 25600 is a perfect match). Its built is not the most solid in the L-series. ...

The lens is not crisp in the corners and the 10% at the left and right area holding it in landscape. But it does a good job on most occasions. The IS is of great help and the focusing is precise. When you have a lot of money it is the 24-70 2.8 you want. If you are happy with a good quality the lens works fine. I use it a lot on report photography and at the studio on a 5D Mark II. Give it some room left and right when you take photos and you will be happy. Cheers, Peter =================== h ...

Super image quality and sharpness. It is more resistant to sun flares and ghosting due to the higher quality of the lens coating and optics. I hardly ever have any flaring when taking shots outside in bright directional sunlight. Blows up really well on computer and have no issues with CA or any visible distortion. Fast focusing and great IS as is with most Canon lenses. Usually comes kitted with the full frame cameras but am using it on my Canon 500D. Very happy with quality and good zoom ...

Many recent posts on various 24-70 options two new canon, and one tarmron which has VC.  also with recent bundling of the lens with the bodies, the price of even new lenses has dropped to under 700.  I have shot with this lens for 5 years.  some landscape as well as studio. Cons 1. Hefty barrel distortion 2. CA on the wide end 3. Slightly bellow average flare characteristic. Pros: 1. Value 2. Range 3, USM, fast and silent and accurate focusing IS, constant aperture. 4. Color and contrast 5. ...

Very good lens as optical quality, dimension and weight. IS works excellently as well. The lens is practically always mounted on my Canon 5D MKII. Unfortunatelly my lens, after 2 years and about 15.000 shots taken looses focal lenght when pointed down (slipping down from 24mm to 105). Repair Center didn't garantee the fix to work longer. Reason why being, differently than EF 24-70 f/2.8 using felt strips, in 24-105 lens the zoom fluidity is depending on lubricant. According the many forums ...

This was a kit lense that i got with my 5DIII. When i first tested this lense, i had a very bad impression as this lense is not ideal for low light condition. With the constant f4 at all zoor range, its not your best choice if you shoot in low light condition, but take it outside and the results are 100% the opposite. The sharpness and image quality is one of the best. The wide angle @ 24mm is not bad, although not the best in comparison with the 16 or 17mm lenses. Also, the zoom @ 105mm is ...
