Hello Everyone, I am planning to buy my first DSLR (Canon 1200D) soon, and I am between two options: 1. the EF-S 18-55 IS II (and maybe a 50mm f1.8 in the future) or wait some time and get the 2. EF-S 18-135mm IS STM lens The only problem is that I can get the first one in the summer, but the second one I can get around Christmas next year, and the wait would be unbearable! Do you think the 18-135mm is wirth the wait? Are there many differences between the two lenses, and what will I win if I...

Hi there!  Newbie here hoping to get some confirmation as to why my lens is malfunctioning. Unfortunately I dropped my camera (Canon Rebel T2i) this past weekend and ever since my autofocus on the 18-55 mm lens has not been working properly.  Manual focus works the same as it had before. Whenever I try to autofocus, the focus lens does not move but it sounds like there is a motor running.  I actually took the lens apart to see whether it was a flex cable that had broke -- didn't really look...

A few days ago, I posted a question about filter holders in the Beginners Questions forum, and a member suggested I might be best to post a copy in the Canon SLR Lens forum, too, as many members had a great deal of experience with rectangular filter and holders. I've copied my original post below - I'd be really grateful if I could ask for some advice with filters and filter holders for two Canon 58mm lenses, please? Several years ago, I purchased a few Cokin P-series filters for a Panasonic...

I'd be really grateful if I could ask for some advice with filters and filter holders, please? Several years ago, I purchased a few Cokin P-series filters for a Panasonic DMC-FZ20 bridge camera. However, around two years ago, I purchased my very first DSLR, a Canon 650D/Rebel T4i. I've recently begun looking into purchasing an ND graduated filter, but at the same time, was hoping to begin using my old filters once again - in particular the circular polariser. As I've been reading around, I've...

After some helpful discussion on this site about what wide angle lens to choose, I ended up purchasing the Canon 10-22 yesterday (in a close race over the new Tokina 12-28). Once I got home I took it out to take some pictures around the yard and was thoroughly unimpressed with it's optics.  Crazy amounts of CA, dominating the corners but still visible mid frame and really mushy sharpness outside the center 1/9th (by area) of the image.  I have read similar threads on this site and others...
