i'm a big fan of Canon's S series, in fact, i started out with the s3is, then sx10is, sx1is, and the sx20is, and now have my sx40hs. I'm very lucky not to try the sx30is since it was soon replaced by sx40hs.The sx40hs is one of the best, if not the best bridge type camera i've tried, its zoom capabilities is very amazing. I can go up to its maximum optical zoom and get great results unlike its previous versions of the SX series. Maybe the Digic5 precessor has something to do with it. You can ...

Many people are asking the questions about is the IQ any better on the new Canon sx40 HS. I just got the new sx40 and still have my sx30. I wanted to know for myself so I started doing some test. Every test shot I did made me feel like the sx30 was broke. These were all hand held and the image from the sx40 was much better each time. I noticed that even the IS seemed way better in the sx40. The image was far easier to keep steady in the sx40 and I was thinking this might be part of the ...

Based in the photos I think it was more bigger. The weight is well balanced. Macro photos are excellent in detail. The price is fine but the Lens must be in the case, is not expensive. The menus are not complex, easy to navigate & intuitive. The zoom is terrific differentiator. The review is going to be very interesting. Turn on is very fast. Raw format must be include in future releases. Can you recommend a ebook for master it? Problems: Definitively you need to hold well or use a tripod.

Only giving the SX40 HS 4.5 stars because Canon is deliberately leaving features out. But I will start with the Urgent Fixes. #1. Get rid of the Childproof Governor that the SX30 IS does not have Cant set the SX40 HS to 400 ISO and set the Shutter speed to 15 Seconds. Must be fixed. #2. Shutter Lag, Depress shutter button half way focus lock press for Shot there is a deal breaker of a shutter lag. #3. View Finder, Non-useable like looking a a bad 1960's Tube Color TV through a toilet paper ...

Moved from the SX20IS through the Nikon P500 to the Canon SX40HS. The advance in image quality is pretty amazing, and I love the long zoom and the 1.5-2x digital tel-extender. Against all odds, it works. Going on 3 frames per second with a fast (class 10) SD card. Great for landscapes, great for wildlife, great for macro. Love it! Problems: I do like the macro mode on the Nikon P500 better, but I can live with the Canon's macro as a trade off for the added image quality.
