I upgraded from the S2 IS and there are some great new features. My favorites being the new 28mm-560mm lens and the addition of ISO 3200 for low light. Even as an upgrade from another IS model there is a definite learning curve that I'm still struggling with after 3 weeks of use. Problems: I'm HUGELY disappointed that Canon did not see fit to provide a means to use a filter such as a UV filter to protect the lens. Particularly since they also did not provide any way to attach the lens cap ...

I have had the SX10 IS for about a month now and am very please with its performance. The camera replaces my SX100 IS which was a great camera also. I've had smaller point-and-shoot cameras over the years, so this is my first "heavy weight." It has taken me a little time to get used to the size and weight, but the performance, quality, and features is worth it. I still have not had time to explore all the features of the camera. I know the basics. I have noticed a slight graininess in some ...

Graduated from Canon Powershot A40 (which I bought after retiring AE1 Program) to SX 10 IS. Bought it today and have taken some 25 shots and two movies. I JUST LOVE IT!! I like the resolution, magnification, ability to zoom/pan while in movie mode, and, yes, excellent resolution of the movie mode. It is on pricey side but considering the features, I think it is a good buy. Problems: I don't like the battery changing mechanism. Like A40, this one too closes with some effort. Like A40, I fear ...

A good performing "Super Zoom" with various features at a reasonable price. After owning an S2 for three years I decided to upgrade when the SX10 came out. The optical zoom range is fantastic and the 28 mm wide angle is very handy indoors. Problems: No problems have been encountered since purchase 6 months ago.

Construction: This is a solidly built unit. Yes, it is a bit on the heavy side for a compact, but it's actually a benefit as weight adds to stability. Features: I've owned dozens of digital cameras, and this one has by far the most comprehensive feature set yet. It's simple enough for point-and-shoot situations, while permitting extensive manual control with lots of exposure tweaks and tricks. This is a photo-geek's best friend. The swivel LCD is so cool. It lets you get shots otherwise ...

I purchased this camera one week ago. I currently own a PowerShot Pro1 that I have used constantly since early 2005. I didn't want to upgrade to an SLR because of the weight of the camera & lenses. We like walking. I love the 20 optical zoom on the SX10 IS and it is light weight. I love the image stabilizing which I didn't have before. So far I am happy with the image quality, but a little grainy in low light. Problems: I am disappointed with the manual focus wheel which is very fiddly and ...

I have had the SX 10 for a few days; so my review can't be very thorough. I have taken close-ups with the macro mode and pictures with the long zoom. The pictures are excellent. Very sharp and well saturated. Someone might regard them as even too saturated. But I like them. One feature that is not so very good for a person like me (whose fingers are all humbs) is the wheel. Before this camera I had the G9, and its wheel had clear "steps". But I think this issue is one that you get accustomed ...

I have several dSLR's but wanted a small camera I could carry when I didn't need my 5D. I started looking at the SX110 (small, flat, and inexpensive). Which led me to the SX10 and then the G10. Of course by the time I got to the G10 I was feature crazy and way over my budget. I didn't want something that was 'almost' a dSLR. So...I had a discount card for Dell and I wound up getting a great deal on the SX10. I feel I made the best choice. Fairly good feature set for the money. I got it in ...

just bought one today. Here are my first comments: Pro: - Good color and resolution - Good Macro - Good stabilisation system, even at full zoom - Quiet zoom - bigger but well-designed body Samples can be viewed at Flicker page. Problems: Cons: - Noise at ISO400 and over - Control dial a bit awkward, esp when selecting scene modes - white balance not very good in artificial lights. - Hard to close cover after inserting batteries
