Opinion: This is to negate Thadoe's posting.
Opinion: This the in between camera for those who don't want the size or expense of the G9 but want more features than a pocket cam. It feels good in the hand and has very easy to reach buttons for your most often accessed settings. The images are very good and easy to review on the awesome screen. Any severly negative reviews are from those who haven't purchased this camera or didn't have the brains to try it out first. Go to Circuit City, Best Buy or anywhere they will let you hold and use this camera. You will see that its worth the money.
Problems: My wife found out I bought another camera!
Opinion: I have had a number of P & S cameras and I think the Canon XS100 IS is the best so far. Low noise, good image processor, good IQ through ISO 400, and ISO 800 is not not too bad either, strong telephoto, decent low light capability, good variety of manual controls, AA batteries, no annoying lens cover, relatively small size and weight, wrist strap.
Problems: Lack of in-camera editing capability, but that can be done on the computer if needed.
Opinion: This camera is good value for money, easy to use, takes great photos/videos, easy to carry.
Problems: none
