Opinion: I paid 199 for mine on EBAY,In the 2 nonths I have had it,I have taken many great photos with it. I use this camera when my DSLR is too much to carry. This camera is well shaped and slides right in my pocket. Very little noise up to 800 iso. What is important with any camera is the pictures, and this camera takes excellent ones.
I am also pleased wih the cameras picture to pictue speed. For more challenging exposures or available light I would use my DSLR.
I have only used video mode a few times, but its video quality seems good. Hghly Recommended

Problems: menus are somewhat confusing

Opinion: Best HD camera on the market in it's price range. The image quality is better than any consumer DV video camera. I used to own the SX200 which is better in a way in that it has a longer lens and exposure lock in video mode which the Ixus 110 doesn't. That said I much prefer this little camera, as it's a lot more compact, has a faster f2.8 (wide) lens and it's macro mode appears to work a lot better also. Less chromatic aberration than the SX200 also. Recommended!

Problems: No.

Opinion: Very similar to other Canon SD9x0IS models in terms of IQ and HD 720P video.

I compared this back to back with a Pansonic Lumix ZR1 and both take excellent pictures and captured HD movies in 720P at 30fps.

Both are very similar in terms of size, cost and performance.

The big difference can be easily seen when taking video. The Canon is much brighter and colors and gradients smoother than the Panny. It must be a factor of the aperture size since when zoom in with both camera's and the aperture is about 5.8, they both take equally dark and noisy video.

***The SD960IS is superior in terms of:
- larger aperture lens 2.8 vs 3.3
- brighter less noisy low light pictures and video
- better automatic white balance detection
- Easier to use and better looking GUI
- Uses std USB mini-B and mini HDMI connectors
- central placement of tripod mount
- larger screen in movie mode

***The ZR1 is awesome because:
- 8x vs 4x optical zoom
- Wider 25mm vs 28mm lens
- Can opticall zoom in movie mode!!
- Easier to grip ergonomic design
- Faster burst mode
- larger screen in picture mode

I also compared this to the SD940IS and the SD960IS:
***The SD960 has
- larger screen in movie mode/smaller in picture mode
- slightly better macro mode
- slightly brighter in maximum telephonto/zoom

***the SD940IS is:
- much much thinner (only 2mm thicker due to lens than SD780IS) and shorter
- more dedicated buttons (labelled too)
- comes in cooler colours

Problems: Body is too smooth and rounded. Make sure you use that wrist strap!
Since the edges of the body curve in, the camera is naturally unstable sitting on a desk.
Needs a dedicated (programmable) movie botton like the SD940IS.
Pastel colours may be off putting.

Opinion: *Disappointing sharpness in videos, stills seemed fine.*

I upgraded to this from an IXUS 80 IS (Powershot
SD1100 IS).

The 720P video appealed, and being H.264 at almost
25 megabit it theoretically has better
technical capabilities of many professional video
cameras. You can at least trust that in terms of
compression artefacts (blocking and mosquito noise),
your camera will be a step ahead of the pack.
Of course, it still has the lens and single sensor of a
cheap compact digital camera, so you don't get
that same sharpness, and you'll get a bit more flare,
the lens doesn't let in as much light, and with
bright lights nearby you sometimes get the vertical
bands typical of 1CCD video cameras.

Unfortunately, after using the camera for a while it
became apparent that it has a focusing problem in
video mode. Stills are very sharp all the time - I was
very impressed. However, the focus was a little off in
video mode, which became more apparent when
zoomed into full telephoto (optically) and particularly
when outdoors and focusing on something distant
(near infinity). In other words, any landscape or skyline
shots - it was BLURRY. As well as quite a bit of flare,
making for glowing halos around bright objects, it was
just soft in general. When half-pressing the shutter
prior to filming, it even looked as if the camera
momentarily found a good focus then took it out of
focus again.

I've since found other videos from this model that
exhibit the same out of focus problem (such as on
YouTube) and so I think it is a bug, rather than a dud
sample.

I'm going to trade it in within the 14 day period they
gave me (which was a great deal) and at this stage I
think I will get an Ixus 100 IS (Powershot SD780).

Still images are really beautiful. I'm really impressed.
There is some complex de-noising happening
when you look at the individual pixel level. In terms of
overall quality (and I dial the sharpness back
a notch) it seems done well considering the number of
pixels and sensor size. Still images
downscaled for display on screen look really excellent,
have tons of detail and are surprisingly good
at low light levels. At low light there's a fair amount of
noise when zoomed in to individual pixel
level but virtually disappears, more so than with most
cameras, when step back and view the whole
picture at once.

Copying files to the computer over a USB cable is quite
slow, making me prefer to take the SD card
out and put it in my SD card reader for much faster
transfers (I've gotten a few USB 2 SD card
readers free over the years, bundled with SD cards I've
bought and one even on the front of a
magazine).

If you want great quality stills and don't mind your
camera being a bit bulkier than say the Ixus 100
(Powershot SD780) or Ixus 120 (Powershot SD940),
you might consider this. If you really want good video,
then it seems to me as if this is one to be wary of.

Problems: As mentioned in the review, the video seemed to have a
focus problem whereby it was really soft/blurred, especially
when zoomed in to the Telephoto end of the len's zoom.

Opinion: I am completely disappointed in this camera. I have owned and was very pleased with
the A620 and 630. My A630 was recently broken and this was supposed to be the
replacement. The ONLY good thing I have to say about the camera is the construction
is top notch.
I chose the 960 because of the wide angle lens and HD video capability. See below:

Problems: -Awful CA
-Very soft images with lots of obvious noise reduction even in bright conditions.
-Absolutely TERRIBLE blue vertical banding in low light videos! Not even good
enough for casual social media posts like facebook.
-focus issues indoors

I have traditionally been a fan of canon's point and shoot line but I couldn't be
more
disappointed with this camera. Dont take my word for it, I will be posting links to
an
example video and photos.

Opinion: An excellent little snapper that fits easily into your pocket with the added benefit of 720 HDI. I have had mine since first released and I have some great photos shot simply using auto supporting my view that for a versatile, compact and durable camera this is the one to go for, for most who need a camera with them while out with the family but do not want to lug the DSLR around.

Problems: There are only 2 issues I have found both of which can be easily overcome.
1) Because of the size it is easy to place your finger over the flash thus impacting the photo you are taking.
2) In video mode you must first focus before recording and any changes required in focusing are not automatic, you need to press the shutter button down half way..

Opinion: If you are looking for a wideangle camera with HD-video-feature, you won't find a
better camera currently. If HD-video is not important to you, you may as well look for
some older Canon models or go after the Fuji F200.
Colour and image handling in the SD960 is better than its competitors. If you are
skillful in adjusting the image parameters (contrast, saturation, sharpness) according to
the light situation you will get the best results in video and still image. I wish it had
RAW and some more manual options.

Opinion: Europe name - Canon Ixus 110 IS
I bought this camera for my wife, before this camera she owned a Samsung NV10 (myself 5D).
I have to say that for this range the camera makes good quality pictures, not excellent, Ixux 70 made better foto's to mu opinion (i could be wrong).

That is makes good photo's is important, but above of all, the ease if use is really excellent! The device let controll itself very simple with those few buttons that is have. I can compare this to Ixus 90, that's a horrible camera to operate!

The 4x zoom is nice, more then enough for this type of camera's. Maybe 5x zoom would be nice for the future.
And it's doing 4x digital zoom. Its using digital zoom when making a movie. What i like about it, is you that you don't hear the motor zoom noise while recording.

The IS on this camerea really works. Compared to the Samsumg (a few years old), the Ixus is doing really it's best to compensate, nice!! Most important, it works.

The 720p video. This is trulley a very nice feature! Recording in 720p @ 30 frames is incredible to do with this camera. The video result is absolutly better then the video's i made with the Samsung or with the Ixus 90. It just looks good. Didn't watched on a 42" TV, but on a 15.4" laptop. it looked very good there! as menstioned before, zoom is digital. When u zoom in at 4x, u are able to see very clearly the interpolation. Using the zoom isn't good for the film quality. The length of the movie u can shoot is 4GB (aprox 30 minutes) per file.

The recorded sound shooting the movie is good.

The 2.8" 16:9 LCD screen is good. Brightness is good, the sharpness is good, the resolution is good.

Overall, nice camera, only the price (280~320 euro) is very high for a such camera. But she liked the pink collor :D

Canon also introduced Ixus 990 IS, is can't see the justification to pay a higher price for that camera. The only benefit is a 5x zoom. And for that is starts with f3.2, the Ixus 110 starts with f2.8 and have a 16:9 LCD screen.
Going to DSLR, you pay a fortune to get f2.8 lenses.

That makes the Ixus 110 a better choise.

Problems: Untill now nothing.

Opinion: Am impressed with the SD960 IS!

Others have stated that there are like in so many cases too many pixels on a too small chip. After using the SD960 for I while, I would like to provide a more differentiated judgement on image quality.

Noise is a real issue, when light conditions are not perfect. However under normal light the resolution of the camera is sensational for its small size. Love to use it for portraits in daylight or with flash.
