Opinion: I have to say that the image quality is poor. The Camera produces far to soft and noisy images. It also acts poorly in low light contidions. For this price it could offer more preset and manual features.

I miss my A580 since it drowned in a swimming pool.

The next time I buy a camera I wont be distracted by the high pixel number.

Opinion: Picked this camera over the newer SD990 because of the good reviews. The titanium casing and better overall construction are also important since this camera travels with me everywhere. My only gripe are the plastic doors. Hence the 4.5 for construction. The 12MP sensor is the same as the G9 that I also own. Both cameras produce excellent images. Unlike the G9, this one fits snugly in my pocket.

Problems: Plastic battery door. So is the cover for the connectors that don't open fully unless you really insist. Small buttons even for average hands.

Opinion: Not a bad camera, but it's missing many useful capabilities. It really needs a wider angle lens, much better high ISO performance and a decent flash.

Problems: The images are soft. It's really tough to get solid sharpness and indoor performance is generally lacking with or without flash.

Opinion: After trying this Ixus 960 mostly because the previous posters did a great test series about how good this is Ive found it not as good as I had hoped but I am going to adjust things and report if I can get the 960 to have better results,. It is very well made in titanium but has not much control and its a point and shoot after all so cant complain too much, But the better IQ and better sharpness reported by the previous posters fine combined test of this the G9 a Panny and even a 40D I have not found the 960 to be exeptionall as yet ,and a G9 Ive been trying is giving better sharper IQ and printed photo results saying that Ive yet to adjust the focus options ect + custom settings and will try again

Problems: EDITED ,After setting the focus points and custom color sharpness saturation ect and using the custom timer one second to take shots and not using the digital zoom like before i can report i am much happier and the 960 nearly indeed matches the G9 for sharpness , a little care in setting it up works wonders so I think this Ixus is better than I thought and have not returned it after all.

Opinion: Have a look at my comparison of this little gem with the Panasonic LX3, the G9 and the 40D with good lens.

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1010&message=29585999

The image quality of this camera is nothing short of stunning. It plays nearly in the same league as the 40D (IQ-wise!) and leaves the G9 and more clearly the LX3 behind. Probably the best IQ in an compact at this time.
Important: exposure compensation should be adjusted. I shoot most at -0.67 Ev, but don't hesitate to choose lower exposure, especially for reds objects.

Problems: Would like to have more manual settings!
Focusing can be slow and a challenge, especially in low light and when battery is going to be empty.
Sharpness is falling toward corners and borders (not a huge issue)
Some rubber grip would be fine, the camera can be slippery.

Opinion: I have problems with the autofocus. Sometimes it just doesn't focus correctly even in bright sunlight. Have had quality control problems with my last few Canon cameras

Opinion: Very sharp images, great color. The sharpness falls off a bit at long focal length; but this is not noticable in normal size prints.
Don't try this, but I dropped it twice from about 5 feet and nothing was damaged.

Problems: The time lapse feature has two settings--once every two seconds, and once a second. Neither setting is any good for true time lapse, except for fast moving clouds.
The flash is underpowered and no good at all for subjects further than 15 feet.

Opinion: I change a 550 for the 950, and I am a bit disapointed, enough to want to change it.
The image are soft, cannot take a shoot from a car rolling, event with no IS, focus is not good.
When outside, beach or mountain the image are great, NO problem.

Problems: I am working in industry, took a lot aof picture with my old 550, never have a problem, with this one, very hard, still problem with focus if there is a vibration in the floor, the image is out of focus.

Opinion: Can't understand whats going on here.

Nearly every reviewer has positive things to say about this camera but not me, i am bitterly dissapointed

I sold my 850IS (7.1mp) to get the 950IS. For the past 6 years i have always carried an Ixus with me and not had a complaint and always recommended the range

I found the pictures from the 950IS camera soft and noisy

Took it back to T4 and tried another...

the second camera was exactly the same

IXUS, for me is no more

Problems: Pictures soft and noisy
