The Powershot SD950 IS was launched in 2007 and replaced the previous year's SD900 as the flagship of the IXUS/ELPH/IXY range. The new model retained its predecessor's titanium shell but added a new intervalometer and image stabilization to the feature list, stretched the zoom range to 3.7x and increased the sensor resolution from 10 to 12 megapixels.

Opinion: better than 900 ti.
Opinion: After exhaustive research and returning both the Sony w200 (in my opinion very noisy) and the Kodak 1253 (bad lag time and unreliable focus but great pana- stitch feature), my 950 arrived.
I've shot about 200 snaps mostly in low light and difficult situations. I'm thinking that most "good" cameras can handle optimal conditions. My initial reactions are:
* terrific IQ (sometimes scary clear), very good lens
* focus feels sure and is accurate
* feels solid well made and lightish (Titanium is a strong but light metal, camera looks like it would weight more)
* very slight shot-to-shot lag (really not an issue with a fast sd card)
* very nice LCD, clear and sharp
* noise not a problem at all up to 400, I usually use 200 as a medium. But hay if you are going up to 800 or 1600 well there is going to be noise in almost any high mp camera
* sure I wish it had a 28mm lens, today I'm going to work with the stitch feature so I can take 180 maybe even 360 pana shots (I'll let you know how it goes, this feature on the canon takes more time to learn, with the Kodak it was performed in-camera)
* I do wish it had a 5x zoom but with 12mp I can crop into a specific area and it's still sharp and well detailed
My co-worker bought the Panasonic fx100 and to be honest it's nice but I do feel the Canon produces sharper images (with abit more punch).
I'm no expert but I've owned several digital cameras and I am pleased so far. It looks like I will finally keep this one.
One strong negative, dame it's expensive....but hey sometimes you get what you pay for.
Cheers
Lucian
Opinion: I bought the Ixus 960 (that how its called in the Netherlands) one week ago and I am very satisfied with the quality. Pictures are sharp, colours look very good. Compared with my Eos 300d and the former Ixus cameras I have (500, 5mp) it is a big step forward. Even compared with the eos 300d!
Opinion: Easily the best IQ for a P&S I've yet seen. This is my 4th Canon Elph and 7th pocket cam. The images I can get from this little kit are detailed and usable all the way up to iso1600 (but don't expect miracles). I do wish it were a little more responsive.
