I bought this camera mostly based on Ken Rockwells review http://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/compacts/sd880.htm I'm happy to say that I totally agree with what he says about the camera. I have taken thousands of shots with it and I am very pleased with it. The lens is wonderfully sharp and the wide angle is great. The shots are contrasty and vibrant. I have made many prints in A4 size that I deem just as good as any DSLR could do. As a gearhead, I immedeatly downloaded CDHK to shoot raw when I ...

I have this camera for over an year. I was very satisfied with it until a week ago when I saw that three dead pixels occurred ON THE SENSOR. I didn't knew that was possible, at first I thought it was only on the LCD screen while I didn't saw the red dots in my pictures. But that's because of the large MP amount. You can clearly see the red dots in the movies. That's a shame, I previously had a SD870 IS and had the same issue and returned the camera right away. But this SD880 IS is out of ...

Really good camera. Got this for quite a long time alrdy. Captures enough detail and performs decently at higher ISO. Problems: None so far.

This replaced my SD870IS. Image quality is slightly better. Flash is about equal. Controls are better laid out, butons larger and more "clicky", so there is less chance of accidental activation. LCD is still 3", but better in bright light. The lens is better with sharper corners. I did add a small piece of Velcro pile to the rear where my thumb rests which significantly improved handling. Mine is the gold version, and it looks sexy. Problems: none, so far.

A nice little camera you can bring with you, anytime, anyplace...I have 2 dSLRs and some manual-controled-RAW-equipped compacts, but I got tired of hours and hours spent in Photoshop. With this camera, you get awesome results right out-of-camera, it saves your time, your nerves and your sight. Better get it while you can (new Canon compacts will have some incredibly high pixel densities around 50MP/cm2, not good way to go). Problems: 1. some corner softness wide open 2. no A/S priority modes ...

I got this camera a month ago. I bought it because it's ultra compact and it has a nice wide angle. Also Canon has a good reputation, which was especially important to me because it's my first camera from this company. I am impressed with built quality, IQ and ease of use. Also the flash is brighter than most think because of its size. Battery life is great IMO. Problems: I don't especially fancy its design. The backside looks great but the front doesn't do anything for me. Size is great though.

These are first impressions after only a few hours with the camera. Positives: - The size is great and exactly what I wanted in a "shirt-pocket" camera. Any smaller and I doubt it could be operated. - Seems very robust, I don´t see the need to step up to a G10 type build for this type of camera. - The LCD screen is excellent even in daylight - Auto-rotate feature for reviewing pictures is very nice and useful - User interface is a huge step from any other compact digicam I have used. Very ...

Like one of the other reviewers, I bought this after my A620 had a little mishap and stopped working. I now really miss my A620. The SD880 images appear very noisy in comparison to the A620's. Many of my photos are taken under indoor lighting conditions using flash (newborn baby in middle of winter). This is where the A620 really blows the pants off the SD880. I didn't realize just how good the A620 was until I had something (that others gave good reviews) to compare it to. I even did ...

The SD880 IS is my fourth digital pocket camera. There is so much I like about this camera. The 3 inch screen is beautiful. I don't miss the viewfinder, and they have gotten so small by now. I like the wide angle lens very much as I was always taking a few shots of a scene trying to get it all in, now one does the trick. And if I take a picture of a building or something rectangular the lines don't warp, so they have addressed the barrel distortion well. My last two cameras were the 400 and ...
