Opinion: 19 august 2007 ... Being the first to review this camera, I just want reconfirm my attachment to early impressions. After about 3000 shots in London, Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo, Sibiu and Bucharest, I am satisfied about the majority of them. All pics taken in good light are good and the most taken inside using Auto ISO mode are quite OK. Focus worked great and movies are better than expected. Battery life of two days continuous (not maniacal) shooting it’s pretty decent.
After five months of carrying this camera in my back pocket, it’s still looks like new.
I use Ultra II SanDisk cards of 1 Gb, the micro USB type, so I don’t use any cables to download photos and I can transfer them whenever I want.
Unbeatable compact camera, unless you are willing to carry two kilos of pro photo gear just to confirm that you are an average photographer(my case)
!!!!!People on Dpreview : you got very lezzy lately, and I am still waiting for your review on this, as well as a bunch of another new (top selling / not Ricoh) cameras. I guess the purpose of your work is to inform us before buying a camera so it make sense to keep up with the market. Thank you in advance.

Opinion: Pros: Large LCD-display, a good picture quality (both with flash on and off), easy acces to change settings without having to look in menus, good battery time and of course a nice design
Cons: No battery indicator, no option to choose aspect ratio (locked on 3*4, I wished 2*3), no real manual mode (in the manual mode you can only change white balance, my colors and so, no aperture priority or shutter priority)
Conclusion: A very good average camera, have some nice functons easy to acces because of the touch wheel. The only big issue for me is the lack of battery indicator. overall a good experience.
A little about my background for this review: I bought this camera when it came on the market in denmark (in the end of marts). I bought it as a supplement to my reflex camera (Canon EOS 300d), and I have in the period I owned it, photographed over 800 pictures. Beside my reflex camera, I have had the oportunity to try out Sony's DTS-50 camera.
Opinion: I bought the camera a week ago in Estonia - $ 295 plus
1GB SD memory card - $ 25.
My first impression is as following:
Good ultra-compact camera.
Made in Japan.
Good construction - stainless steel+plastic.
First pictures are good. With flash and without.
Video is good too.
3"0 LCD with special protecting coating. No problem to wipe out the finger prints with a soft material (like for your glasses).
The screen is bright and shows real good picture.
There is no real manual modes but I am not a pro and find automatic mode with a list of many features quite suitable for my purposes.
The soft on CD is very helpful and handy including Canon browser and full detailed manual of 150 pages. It is tailored for Windows Vista as well.
The battery is quite good - abt 250 - 300 shots.
It takes 90 minutes to charge.
I put the camera into a mobile telephone leather case fit to carry on your belt. Very handy.
Cons:
- no battery indicator. It shows only by the end.
- No detailed manual on paper(it is on CD). There is only a short brochure with 33 pages.
It is a good very portable modern camera with some new ideas from the Canon people.
Sorry - can't supply a good review regarding pictures quality in different conditions. Do not have enough practice with the thing.
Problems: NIL
Opinion: Everything I've read about this camera was true and I would like to add something I haven't read anywhere regarding digic III processor and it is related to digital zoom. This is first camera (and all others with DIGIC III) which has a very very usefull digital zoom. Usually , digital zoom is only a line in specification of a camera and nothign else but this one , you can use and be satisfied. LCD display - best, picture quality - nearly perfect , speed - best, case quality and design - perfect, and I am proud to present : IXUS 75 - TOP CAMERA.
Problems: Problems I've had are related to it's software. It refuses to start up by itself and won't start up at all when I connect camera. It has been concieved that when you insert usb cable a windows pops up and takes all new pictures from camera into your PC using a small program from provided CD. With IXUS 55 and IXUS 65 I did't have problems but with this one I could'nt get it right. PLEASE SEND YOUR HELP (solution) FOR THIS to chiko@ptt.yu. THANKS IN ADVANCE
