Replacement for the SD1000 (Ixus 70) offers solid, if slightly uninspiring feature set in a stylish and well made slimline casing. The SD1100IS is a 'typical' IXUS/SD in many respects. It is compact, well built and sports a reasonably attractive design. It offers good output quality in most situations - straight out of the box - only requiring minimal user intervention. It is also typical in so far as you won't find any groundbreaking innovations on the spec sheet. As usual Canon has chosen the safe route by sticking to what they know best. If it is the extraordinary you are after, go and look somewhere else. . (April 2009)

Opinion: I bought this camera to carry everywhere I go so that I do not miss an important moment to capture. I was amazed to see excellent picture quality and loaded features in it. The battery life, power saving options, light weight, handy video modes, sleek n sexy design, easy menu options, everything is packed in it. I rarely miss a shot due to its short power up time. On top of that, this camera is very very cheap. This camera has exceeded my expectations. No other product offers this much at this price.

Problems: No problem at all in 4 months of my daily use. I already have taken more than 1000 shots. I wish to have little wide coverage. But I don't really consider it as a problem because there are other cameras with wider lense coverage, but what is the use of that if the far end portion of captured image is distorted and blurr?

Opinion: This is the fourth time I've submitted this review so I'm not going to be as indepth since it will likely be lost. Basically I think the SD1100 is one of the best I've ever used. I purchases one (the SD1000) for each of my two kids and while seeing their great shots I realized I had to have one myself.
I have taken over a thousand photos and have had more keepers than I expected. I love the screen, build, size, and easy menu. The flash fills a room but powers down nicely for close ups. The movie mode is excellent with the anti shake engaged. Very sharp large-screen viewable with vivid colors.
I would like to see a wider lens but I realize the trade-offs with a sub compact. I haven't regretted anything about it.

Problems: The battery is OK but not great. Unlike Sony, it doesn't give you much to go on except three stages of full/empty. I bought a spare before going on a trip which was needed.

Opinion: Just a upgrade from my sd1000, pretty much the same camera but with a few needed features. The most important one for me was the battery meter since my other didn't have one and gave you very little notice.

Problems: Nothing so far just like my sd1000.
