Opinion: I just got this camera two days ago. It is excellent. I am still testing it though. Size is perfect for traveling, very “handy” even for a lady. Pictures are unbelievable. Speed is good, software is great. Nice kit. Do not leave without it!
Problems: I miss IR remote and 4X optical zoom, otherwise I would give rating 5.0 in this category.
Opinion: I have the Photoshot 100 and just ordered the S50.
Even though I am confident that the S50 is a great camera what more does it offer than the Canon S400 which size is much more userfriendly? (I am aware that the S50 has one more megapix but but except from that)
I been trying to find a difference but can't. If the S50 isn't a much better camera I rather buy the S400.
Any answer would be highly appreciated. Thx !
Opinion: Best choice. I can grab and go and get amazing shots that can be printed large with great detail and dazzeling color. Constructuon and style is serious...not a plastic toy digital; this is a stylized brick. But, it melds to your hand in a glove-comfortable way. I am happy to have the 5 mp and happy with the body color. I chose this for my hasty composition shots, rather than a leave at home or in the car camera. I can carry this and take expert shots. Yeah.
Problems: Some software problems with the Zoom browser ex.
Opinion: In just under a week I have fallen in love! This camera feels so good in your hand it's hard to put down. It is hefty, but that only serves to remind you that it is a quality piece of machinery and not a "toss around, buy another if it breaks" camera. The default wide angle is stupendous. No more backing up to the wall to get a crowd into the scene. Yes, it could have been a 4x zoom but with the 5 meg CCD you can blow up an ant from 20 feet and it would look like a portrait. The controls and menus are easy to work. The hardest part is choosing which way your creativity will bend. Start up is fast and time between shots is even faster. I investigated the G3, G2, S45, Minolta f100 and the Minolta f404. The great reports on the S45 brought me to the S50. Four is good, so how much better is five megs? Why wasn't the G3 designed as a 5 meg camera? I don't know and now, I don't care. The S50 is a must have!
Problems: None so far.
