For nearly 3 years, I am very satisfied with the camera. She is the all round camera. Video and photos, especially macro and zoom range are good. Even my wife is happy. Problems: Only the wide angle is not as good as the zoom range, but ok.

I chose this camera over the more recent S5 because I thought it offered me a better overall package for what I expect. Battery life, easy access to the memory card, even on a tripod, and fast burst mode were the main elements which decided me to get a used S3 rather than a brand new S5. Add to that the fact that I didn't see any point in getting 2 extra megapixels, and you may understand why the S3 ends up being a better buy as far as I am concerned. The compatibility of this camera with the ...

I am using it for 3 months already. I made more then 25 000 pictures in different conditions Very good camera. Fast startup is very usefull when you want to catch a moment Very fast operation, espessially continious shooting in high speed I think 1/1.8 sensor would make picture quality perfect. Video 640x480 30fps very usefull. Customization was enough for me, except may be one more custom mode. Very pleased with user interface and the fact that at ANY moment while I am in ANY menu including ...

I bought the Canon S3 IS last week and it´s simply amazing, everything I ever wanted in a camera. Since I´m a beginner I don´t need a DSLR, besides I don´t wanna carry all those lenses inside my bag, so looking for a camera that has a good range of zoom I chose this one. Of course I did lots of research reading every review about it here, so the results are: - Very nice zoom - Good Image quality, awsome outdoor pictures - Well constructed and has amazing grip, easy to handle - Nice features ...

I purchased the S3 IS a few months ago. The price was very reasonable. My last camera was a Canon A75 and I wanted a camera with more capabilities without having to spend a fortune. With accessories ; lens conversion adapter(LA-DC58E), wide converter lens(WC-DC58A), telephoto lens(TC-DC58B), macro lens(500-D 58mm), basic filter kit(Tiffen photo essentials filter kit), I spent around seven hundred dollars(including the S3 IS). Everything about this camera has impressed me when I compare it to ...

Not the best camera I have owned but, for the money, it can do an awful lot quite well. I wish those people who complain about the loose lens cap would realise that it is a deliberate misfit. Don't want to jamb that fine lens by mistakenly leaving it on, do we? The IS is very good. I made a fine picture of a street at night using 1/4 sec. at f2.7 and leaning on a post. Problems: Why the DC connection is non-standard I don't know. I have a unit with multiple fittings non of which fit the S3. ...

I just recently purchased my S3. It appeared to me that the difference between the S3 and S5 are not huge and I decided to take advantage of the falling price of the S3. My purpose in buying this camera was to have something that fit between my SLRs (20D & 5D) and my Pansonic LX2. I have had the camera for about a week now and have taken approximately 300 photos - nearly all of which were outside in good sunlight. For a point and shoot camera, it is fast - much faster than the Canon G5 I ...

My first digital was an A520. After shooting w/ film for years, I was not keen on digital. I was incorrect. I then purchased an xTi DSLR. (Gold Standard for DSLR entry level!!)Why then the S3 IS? Well, it is a fun little guy. It is a blast to use/zoom is wonderful. Noise is low at IS 400, and the photos are beautiful quality. Sure, the view is tiny, and after working w/ the DSLR for some things, not having the through the lens control is a bust. Nevertheless, this is a great little ...

Canon S3IS is my 4th digicam I own after a Medion, Olympus 750 UZ and a Nikon D50. I have the Canon for about 4 months now and took some 2000 photo's so far. First about the good part : - Nice zoom capacity and zoom quality. At full tele compared to the Nikon D50 with Sigma DG 28-300 lens, the Canon produces better quality (!). - FAST ! This Canon is very fast: fast startup time and really rockin' speed from wide angle to full tele (it can make the difference between having your photo or not) ...
