Back-up when I cannot use my 1Ds2/3 cameras. Fantastic image quality once focus finally locks on!! Problems: Focus too slow and eratic.

Awesome if you learn to use it the rihgt way. Sometimes external flash is needed, for distant objects, but then, you could moste of the time move closer up anyway. Read and understand the manuals. Brilliant results, works without problems in -15 degrees centigrades if you remember to keep it dry in an inner pocket and store it in a plastic bag with most air removed until it has reached indoor temperature once back indoor. Sun and heat is no problem either, just don't leave it in direct sun at ...

This is a great camera for me. I am not a professional, just an enthusiastic amateur. I spent two weeks scouring reviews and spec sheets, visiting camera stores, and talking to people before I decided on this camera. What I was looking for was a camera that would maximize picture quality and hopefully still be portable and affordable. Some of the smaller "point and shoot" cameras take beautiful photos, but the controls are all in menus and I wanted the basic controls to be physical dials and ...

I'm sorry to say I am nery unhappy with my Canon G1 X. I find I get a high proportion of out of focus or badly exposed images. I also find that there are quite a few scenes that the camera just will not focus on. I find myself having to seriously consider what I take pictures of. Certainly not worth the high price that Canon charge, the lack of a reasonable close focus can be an issue. Problems: Focusing issues

Prior to the g1x, the strange Pentax 750z, as well as previous g models have been my faithful companions wherever I go -- to work, to lunch, and even to the grocery shop. Tucked in a small (10" x 9") slingbag, this format of cameras offered me better IQ and control than compact point and shoots, without the bulk and weight of dslrs. They proved to be great in just about every aspect of photography that I enjoyed (casual candids, urban), except for low light situations and, oh... improved IQ ...

Awesome piece of kit. Problems: Wish it would need a cap, as it slows u down in candid shots.

I hope it is OK. Problems: Open your PDF manual. Make screenshots of some pages of the manual. Open one of them in Window painter. Don’t use Photoshop! Select all and copy. Open some of jpeg images taken by your camera and paste into it. Save it. Now you have your PDF pages right on your camera’s screen.

I have this camera for about 2 months now and I am generally very satisfied. I wonder how people can rate a camera based on their inability to work with it, as seen in these posts. I could work with RAW files in DPP from the moment I installed the (new) software and Aperture had already added it to its database, so I could also work in Aperture. Great IQ, comparable with DSLRs, in a compact body. Very good low light capability up to ISO 12800. Versatile screen, usable OVF when speed is needed. ...

I was waiting for such a camera for a long time. I want a good camera, compact, with a large sensor, a swiveling screen and a 28-140 zoom. OK for 112 instead, but not for slow AF and not for 40cm min focus. Waiting for G2X, G3X or more??? Wishing Powershot G1X will have a succeeding family like the powershot G one and not like the Powershot Pro1 one.
