Opinion: The A95's larger LCD is a major step up from the A80's screen. And they brought back the fireworks mode that was a key feature (at least for me!) on the A75. The pictures are sharp and when used with any image-editing software, you'll get great results. If you buy this camera, learn the many different modes. I shoot pictures of flowers using the macro setting in the action mode and then shoot people on the street in the same mode without the macro, but at a different ISO setting. Then a minute later, take some head shots in portrait mode. Learn to make the camera work for you.
Problems: The only problem I saw were in downloaded pictures. The same pictures taken at a certain camera review website showed a lot of blueish frinigng on bothe the a95 and a85. Canon used the same ccd's in these cameras as they did in the a80 and a 70, they just crammed an extra megabite of pixels on each one. download the pics that show playground equipment and trees than look at the trees. the best pictures I saw from this series of cameras were from the a80 and a75 cameras
Lastley, it does not support MPEG4 movie mode. what a pity!
Opinion: a. 5.0 MP should be better quality than A80's 4.0 MP
b. 1.8" lcd is much more clearer than A80's 1.5" lcd
c. overall A80 gets very good comments from users, then A95 should be comparatively better than A80.
highly recommended to new home users.
Opinion: very nice camera with sharp and nice photographs,
the 1.8" lcd mon can be rotated, twist and is very clean,
5.0 MP can printed nice quality photos up to 8 Rs,
easy to use and with good hand feeling,
fast focusing and zooming and saving photos.
Opinion: I just bought this to upgrade my Canon A70. I've been so happy with the A70 that I wanted to continue with a Canon but wanted a higher MP camera. I had no hesitation in buying the A95.
I took both cameras out on the weekend and took some pics and then came back and looked at them on the computer. The A95 pics were sharper with more detail than the A70 (as I expected). The only thing that I was a bit skeptical about was the purple fringing on foliage against the sky. But I can live with that. The picture quality otherwise is as good as I expected it to be, just brilliant. Colors were represented very well, and didn't seem to be washed out or too sharp, bright etc. Just what they were at the time the photo was taken.
The user interface is essentially the same as the A70, which I find rather intuitive and easy to use. So no complaints there.
I've tried some of the new scene settings and they seem to work really well, I need to spend some more time with them.
I like the flip out screen and the increase in size makes a real difference, helps to frame the photo and is a clear representation.
If you are looking for a good quality medium sized digital camera, I'd go for this one. The best thing I ever did was upgrade my compact 35mm Canon to an A70 and now to the A95. Canon sure do know how to make a great camera. Great camera at a great price!
Problems: Just the purple fringing on foliage against the sky. It seems to be worse on the A95 than the A70 but I might be mistaken. Perhaps somone else can add their comments specifically about this?
No other problems.
