Opinion: I purchased this camera as my first digital point-and-shoot. I had used only film up to this point and hated spending $50+ for one or two really good shots. Now with digital, I could take many photos and review them on the fly. Around this same time I had my first child... This is when the utility of the camera really showed its stuff. As a camera used for family outings, first steps etc. I cannot think of a better camera.

Optics are great. Fact that it has a full manual mode is awesome. Properly setup you can even take great night shots.

Someone in another review said their camera was fragile... I have not found this to be so. I have had my camera fall out of my hands and land on the lens assembly while open and the camera still works just fine.

To date, I have taken 3987 pictures with this camera.

Problems: Slow lag from shutter depression to actual picture taken. You have to get yourself used to this to be able to capture the spontaneous shot. Difficult, but can be done.

Opinion: Great camera for the price. The features are what you'd get on a very expensive camera. For this price you can not go wrong. The only things I did not like were:
1. The cover for the usb tranfer port is weak
2. The auto setting seems to always overexpose the image. Although I never used auto I always use manual.
Other than these 2 things the camera was great. It lasts a long long time on one set of batteries too.

Opinion: Only got my A75 recently - my first digital camere; I'm still using my Canoon A1's and have been putting digital off for a while. Passing the Camera section in a local shop and saw the A75 fo £50 - obviously because it's an old model.

Has completely won me over to Digital and I'm now looking at the Nikon D80 to replace my much loved Canon A1's

Problems: None so far

Opinion: Posted by my 9 Y.O. nephew:
I think the Canon A75 is easy to use and it is easily transportable. The pictures I have taken are of a very high quality for a camera of it's price (£100-£120).
It is my first digital camera purchased with my birthday money for my 9th birthday.
I would recommend this camera.

Problems: Shutter Lag is too long.

Opinion: Great Image Quality & Features, but Very fragile!

I've bought three of these puppies for my kids in the past 6 months. The first two failed in the hands of my son, one from falling from his bed to the floor while off (broke the LCD) and the second one, completely shorted out in less than 2 seconds after taking a dip in the ocean, although very little water actually entered.

I managed to make one good camera out of them, as the second cammy had hardly taken on any water at all (the lens was protected with an adapter tube and filter and that stayed perfectly dry).

My general comments are: the image quality and the feature set is remarkable for such a small and 'built for the low-end' camera, it surpasses what I can do with my Fujifilm s602 in-camera and is definitely a more user-friendly camera, great for enthusiasts and beginner, and easy to carry.

Pity it is so fragile, evne with the tube adapter. My fujifilm s602zs (with adapter tubes) have fallen, hit things and been exposed to rain with no detrimental effect. When you take one of those apart, you'll notice the case is thick and sturdy. Not so the a7xs!!! The case is so thin it's hardly more than a visual barrier over the internal components, with practically no structural functrion. No wonder so many are sold on ebay for parts...

If you are very, very cautious and a calm person, then this cemera should be a perfect choice. But if you're an active teen like my kids, you better look for something more robust if you want it to last.

In this age where one-time use submersible cameras with rubber cases can be found for as little as 10$, I can't understand why it should be so complicated for regular cameras to be sealed and protected from shock likewise.

Problems: Very fragile, LCD and lens prone to breakage in active living conditions.

Opinion: This was my third digital camera. Now in my second year. Well built and feels secure in the hand. Produces very good results in well lit situations and sunlight. Natural colours and resolution. Fast focus and zoom. Very good macro results. Logical menu structure. Scene stitch option very useful on holidays. The screen is very clear with good resolution as is the TV or PC playback function. Good battery life with 2500mWh. A rugged reliable companion for amateur photographers.

Problems: Screen in bright sunlight not easy to see.
Flash too bright, drains the photos of warmth. Indoor photos too grainy in low available light as ISO is increased to compensate.

Opinion: Used this camera for about 2 years and just recently upgraded to the Sony DSC-W100. This A75 takes remarkable pictures for a 3.2 megapixel camera! Incredibly clear images when printed at 4x5, and received numerous compliments on the photo quality.

- incredibly easy to use menus
- the flash is more than enough power, although blows out subjects at close range.
- images are good quality (classic canon, smooth look to them)
- nice LCD screen
- there is a lot of red eye, but that can be edited so easily these days.

I would definitely recommend this camera if the price is right, and for someone who is only interested in 4x5 prints. Any larger prints might show the lack of resolution of the images. I give this camera top marks in each category relative to other 3.2 megapixel cameras.

Problems: Sometimes alkaline batteries die unexpectedly fast, leaving the lens open and fully extended. I'd definitely carry non-rechargeable batteries as backup, even if it's just to get the lens properly closed in order to put the camera back into it's case.

Opinion: WOW! My first Digital, and I couldn't believe how good this was used it for 2 years and no problems.

Have just sold this one and upgraded to the A620 which is 7.1 megapixels but the pictures don't seem that much better than this one!

Canon really do make the best quality Digitals I would recommend this one to all starters.

Quality!

Problems: I would have liked more zoom. But that costs more, it is better than all other models in its class and price range.

Opinion: Wow! is how I view the images. I am a longtime SLR user and a professional in Graphic Arts, so I see a lot of images. This camera I purchased because my wife raved about her A60, I bought the A75 as something to throw in my case when I travel. I've hardly used film and the SLR anymore. We recently had a big family party, I shot 150+ images and had them printed on photographic paper at a local lab. Our friends and family could not beleive how good the quality was on such a compact camera.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this camera to anyone who wants high quality images and trouble free operation

Problems: None really, comes with a 16Mb card, throw it away and by at least 128 (I installed) a 256.

Being a compact, red eye can be an issue,(This is my experience with all compacts not just Canon) but I use the red eye editing function in iPhoto (I'm a Mac user) and it's perfect
