Opinion: I use this camera if I don't want to take my drls with me. Compact enough to put in the pocket of my pocket (can stil feel the weight) All posibilities I need for a camera of this size are there. I didn't use any iso's over 100 yet, I guess a reflex camera must be a lot better for that.
Anyway I'm pleased with the ease of use, the screen and the results I have of this camera

Problems: none yet

Opinion: I love this camera it is feature rich! LCD, AA Batteries, 12 mp, 6x optical zoom.

Problems: Problem is I have gone thru 3 from Amazoncom and a few more from Best Buy. They all seem to have the same problem with banding in the image. When taking pictures with high lighting from behind or high contrast situations.

Opinion: Got this as the small camera when I don't want to tote my DSLR. I've had a PowerShot before...this look and feel is similar to one I got years ago.
It feels good in the hand...easy to shoot one-handed, and is good if you have bigger hands.
Menus are fairly intuitive, and buttons are there for more commonly used functions.
I used this during the day and at night. It performed well in both cases. Obviously noise at high ISOs, but where very dark, it doesn't show up as much.
I feel the construction, while not metal, is still sturdy. It should be kept in a well-padded little camera bag.
Key features are the image stabilization and high ISO, which result in more sharp pictures; also the 180 degree flip out screen, which you can use for getting yourself in the picture easier.

Problems: Would prefer shorter option for picture review time than 2 seconds...otherwise, you have to turn off the review altogether.

Opinion: I came to the A650 from the A640, I use it alongsiide a DSLR, and I think that this camera represents the best combination of features and performance. It is set apart from others by the swivel screen and the 4xAA battteries (and consequent battery life).

The feature set is excellent and improved from the A640, most noticeable improvements are in AF and speed of handling and operation (a dedicated ISO button is most welcome!). For the previous reviewer who mentioned the 2 second delay after a photo, to dismiss the photo review earlier than 2 seconds, just touch the shutter button.

I would rather have less than 12Mp pixels and less noise, but noise is no worse than the A640, better than most and what you have to expect with a compact camera. Still no RAW option, which given the price hike to more "pro" levels is a little short sighted of Canon, but something I can live with.

Build quality is down from the A640, which had a "hewn from metal" feel, but still good. It's a little heavier and the lens assembly is larger, no doubt because of the extended focal length.

All in all, an excellent camera from a pedigree stable.

Problems: No significant issues.
