I have Nikon D50 and A630 as a second camera and for me it is dreamteam ;) A630 has superb image quality, good control over exposition, panorama mode, incredible battery livetime, pivoted screen. Histogram is the only thing i'm missing. My first choide for compact was Nikon S10, but forget about it...( I've used S10 one day and changed it in shop for A630 because of hotpixels and overall average quality)

The camera is all that a novice can want. You can read that in the many posts allready. But ... I returned mine. See problems Problems: All the movies I've taken have a anoying hiss. A very audible high pitch. It was that anoying that I brought it back to the store. Apparently a few other powershot camera's also have the same problem. (there's not much written about this problem I've noticed) I;m now considering the canon s-2 or s-3. But I wander if they have the same problem...

Dollar for dollar, you can't go wrong with the A630. I've had mine for a few months now and am quite satisfied. The battery issue mentioned is quickly overcome by getting rechargables. They seem to last as long as any propriety batteries I use in other cameras. I don't even carry spare AAs anymore. Image quality is superb; I hardly ever need to do post production work sharpening them. Problems: As with all built-in flashes, this one just doesn't throw enough light. Good for shots of 10' or less.

When I decided to buy a new camera, I did some research and narrowed the competition to Canon's a710 IS, a630, a640 and a used pro1. After a lot comparing and reading I decided a630 because of it's low price, rotating screen, picture quality and the fact that it is propably the best value for my money. I have owned this camera just over a month and I'm very satisfied with it. It is my first canon, but thanks to it's simplisity I didin't face any problems. It took only 10 minutes to get to ...

Over the last week I have taken many photo's in varying condition's and the performance of this camera has been very good. The bang for the buck just can't be beat. I'll save you all the technical jargon as it has been said many times already here. Just know that I'm another happy user of this camera and would recommend it to anyone looking in this class an price range. Problems: None yet.

The A630 replaces my old PowerShot A75, which I liked very much. All the good things I have read in the web about the A630 are true. I just want to mention some points, I was astonished or disappointed: Problems: - Remote capture: This is a software tool coming with Canon cameras, which allows you to take pictures direct by the pc, inlcuding the possibility to have some automatic time intervall (for example: 400 photos every 20 seconds) I liked this feature very much on my A75. Now I found ...

I received my A630 about two weeks ago and have taken many indoor and outdoor photos. WOW!!! That’s all I NEED to say. But I also WANT to say more. The A630 is truly an excellent camera. Here’s my review of each category: Image Quality: I have been an S45 owner for the past 4 years, and my S45 takes superbly sharp, detailed and color accurate photos, with the exposure being somewhat fair to average. The S45’s main problem was corner vignetting and slight corner softness. The S45 is also a 4 ...

Oh my! I just received my A630 for my birthday 11-03. I have been up all night reading about this wonderful camera. I can't wait to really get to know it better. That's the only reason I rate 4.5 on ease of use because I'm not there yet. My second dc. Would reccomend this camera to all who want a new dc. Problems: None yet!

I bought the A630 because I like the open and twist LCD panel, and I like the use of AA batteries. I took 8 pictures before posting this message. Everything works fine like it is supposed to. I did not see much image quality difference between this camera and the Kodak that I used before. I like the camera because it is ergonomic. It is not too small or too large. Problems: Small memory card for 8 m pix. I could only take 5 pictures and it is full. I will have to buy a larger memory ...
