Canon PowerShot A60

Opinion: This is a wonderful camera for the beginner, i brought it 2 years ago, as my first digital camera. It has wonderful features and is very easy to use with the simple turn wheel at the top.

Opinion: I've had this camera for two years now, and it's stood the test of time very well. I've
had hundreds of photos developed and they've all been fantastic. It's a great
introductory camera for new photographers, or new digital photographers. It has a
fair number of features. It's very sturdy and withstood a number of tumbles. Overall,
an excellent camera for everyday use.

Opinion: I bought this camera last month (sept. 2005) as a package deal with canon Cp-200 printer. I also own a Canon a-40, so I am very comfortable with Canon menus. This little gem takes great pics. and is easy to use, and I especially appreciate the many options available on such an inexpensive camera, highly recommended, and hopefully the ccd recall will not haunt me in the next few years. I also own an Olympus c-5060 and a 2100 UZi, so I
basically have many different weapons in my arsenal.

Opinion: I've used two Canon A60. I had the first broken in 6 months. I bought the second in march 2004 and is still here, even if it fell 3-4 times and it's scratched a lot.

The image quality is good for a cheap camera like this and it's very easy to use. Amateur photographer can do a lot of things, because it has a lot of advanced features suc as Av, Tv an full manual.

The flash recycling time is fast and the camera is quick to display pictures.

The movie mode is sufficient.

Opinion: My first camera was a Canon Powershot A100 and I choose the A60 model to substitute it when I was looking for additional resources.

Beautiful cam that takes really good photos. In my opinion, is the best 2.0 MPixel cam ever.

Amazing battery life. I take more the 200 pictures with a single battery set, wih LCD and flash on.

Opinion: Camera takes great photos.

Opinion: The Powershot A60 is quite a value for the money, and takes remarkably good
pics for a 2MP camera.

My post is really about the "E18" error that others in this posting area have
talked about. Several have said that Canon is not acknowledging this error at
all and is turning a blind eye to this particular problem.

Not true. The "E18" error is posted quite clearly on Canon's Web site in their
support pages. It's even listed as one of the more common error prompts.

"E18" happens when there's a lens malfunction. And the lens malfunctions
usually occur when someone has inappropriately touched the lens tube when
it's moving or has otherwise blocked it in some way from moving in or out.

The Canon A60 is, like most small cameras, somewhat delicate. If you drop it,
handle it too hard, remove the CF card while it's processing data, grip the lens
in a way it isn't supposed to be gripped, etc., you'll get an error code. I don't
think "E18" is as much a problem with the camera as it is with the user.

Opinion: It's the best thing going in its class. It has a thorough set of manual
and scene modes that make it easy to try new techniques; it uses
common AA batteries, and it's easy to hold. The optics are sharp
and fast.

Opinion: I have really enjoyed using this camera until lately. Error message E18 has appeared in the bottom left hand corner of my LCD. Did a google search and have found that I'm not alone. It is a shame that Canon is not willing to fix this bug for free. Oh well, I guess I don't have to buy Canon products in the future.
