Opinion: This camera does provide a handsome manual controls over all features of the camera. Even micro-level zoom can be handled manually. Great to have this one. This really improved my photography quality.

Problems: Night photography really had been problematic on this camera. Missed some very good shots. :(

Opinion: This is an excellent camera for the beginner, u can tweak with aperture values, shutter speed, and manual focus at the same time in "Manual" mode. Also, the aperture value range and shutter speed range is quite good especially for cameras of this price range. I think this is great camera for learners. The image quality is pretty good. The camera gives sharp focus consistently.

Overall, its a great value for money if u dont want an usual point & shoot but some more features as well.

N.B. - I have taken most snaps in "manual" mode, so cant tell much about the "Auto, aperture priority, shutter priority" modes.

Problems: For me, the AWB does not work properly; on many occasions, I had to shift to "custom" white balance to get the right shade of colour.

I have faced some problems in autofocus, but that is there in almost every camera.

Opinion: Purchased this as an upgrade from older cameras I use with CHDK -- it works fine with CHDK, but it really isn't an upgrade over CHDK on older models. Despite being a very "plastic" camera, tiny and light, it feels reasonably solid and well made. I also like that it uses just 2 AA cells and it generally works well and captures nice images. My main complaint is that the image quality is slightly poorer than comparably-specified older A-series Canons. Put another way, compared to older A-series cameras, this was clearly designed to a lower price-point with more features (e.g., zoom range and IS), and a slight drop in image quality is the primary sacrifice. I can see this being a great choice for some CHDK KAP work where the size and weight matter and IS couldn't hurt, and it is fine for general use, but I'm a bit disappointed in terms of the peak image quality you can get when you're using CHDK and doing everything right.

Problems: It seems to me that the lens on this camera isn't quite up to the standards of older A-series cameras; I see more blur in the corners, and even in the center it doesn't resolve as well as, for example, the old 7MP A620. The IS probably compensates for hand-held shake pretty well, but I suspect that it might be partly to blame for the slight drop in resolution; it also seems to cause a few-pixel random shift of the image from frame to frame when the camera has not actually moved.

Opinion: Given the low price - under 100 € on Amazon.fr - the range of features offered by this camera is startling. This mitigates against it to some extent, because one immediately compares it with with other cameras offering the same features, most of which cost three or four times as much. On this level. image quality lets it down a little, but on its own price level it comes out very honourably indeed.

I bought it mainly to use with a Gigapan, which requires a camera that can be set manually, so I haven't tried it in any of the auto modes nor even in aperture- or speed-priority. But my wife uses one in full auto on her morning runs: she finds it delightfully simple, and the results are good.

It's entrancing, too, to find match-needle exposure metering again after all these years.

The user interface is excellent, easy to follow without looking at the manual (but see the "problems" section as reagrds that) and remarkably complete.

But as regards value for money and sheer photographic fun it beats the rest of the field not just by streets but by transcontinental highways. It's almost worth laying a couple away against the day it goes out of production.

Conclusion: great wee camera, why do without it?

Problems: Images are a bit oversharpened. It would be nice to have some influence over this, but at that price who's complaining?

MF a bit difficult in strong sunlight.

Beware the "Safety MF feature", which can be frustrating if you aren't aware of it. It ruined a 70-picture Gigapan panorama for me. OK, ok, I should have RTFM tatooed on my forehead, but this is the kind of feature you'd never expect on a camera without reading TFM, and for me could have been left out to no loss. Hell, if you're shooting manually it implies that you take responsability for your mistakes, so why bother including this?

Opinion: This is a camera which is not priced as high by retailers who don't know its real value. This camera is a real must for any photo buff. Full manual settings allow you to tweak f-stop, shutter speed and ISO, while seeing the results instantly on your LCD. It allows manual focusing and an option to zoom in to the object you are focusing to see the effects live. If you just want it for photos without any knowledge of photography, just choose the scene you want, or even better, use the easy mode to have the kid on the street take your group photo. Or adjust the white balance to custom for a personal touch. se sepia if you wish to reduce high ISO grain in low light. This little machine literaly teaches photography in its manual settings.
Pros as list:
-Shutter lag short
-Uses 2 AA(get rechargeable)
-Uses SD card
-Great Grip and great looks
-Real manual settings(there are those who advertise P mode as if it's M)
-Manual Focus, focus zoom
-2.6 f-stop at wide, 5.5 at optical 4x zoom
-On daylight, as good as my EOS350D dslr
-Optical VF
-good price(in my opinion, undervalued)

Problems: -Camera build is a joke. I have seen more solid toys. Are you going to a harsh field trip? Leave this at home.
-Optical viewfinder lacks info otherwise available on LCD
-LCD resolution doesn't do justice to images taken, but I could hardly complain about it
