Opinion: I got myself a new canon a550 a few days ago, it was made in malaysia, nothing much changed vs a530 and a540.
Very disappointed, see below
Problems: The LCD screen is unusable in places where there is an ample amount of light, the LCD "bleeds" and vertical blue lines appear on the LCD even on dim lights, what more when under the sun?
When i opened the battery port there isnt even a sign of (+) and (-), so i made a trial and error on what pole is what...
did i get a rejected unit? or just a crappy unit? or just all a550s are like this?
but i wouldnt recommend it!
Opinion: This is my first Canon camera, upgraded from Sony DSC-P72. The still image and video clip are so much clear when viewing in my PC. It is easy to use. Use AA battery and SD card. The image is clear and sharp. The lag time is hsort but not fast like DSLR camera. However, whatever features you need for P&S is there.
If the wide angel can go to 28mm will be perfect. It is very reliable and easy to use.
Problems: nil.
Opinion: We have, anyway my girlfriend has, bought the A550. Great little camera, good point and shoot, light and ease to use. Nice to take away on trips. Picture quality is good. I can compare it with the old Canon G2 and Olympus SP 500UZ. Really a pleasure to use.
Problems: So far, none!
Opinion: I've had my Canon 550 for about two weeks. I bought it to replace my lost Canon 520. Though I'm a very amature photographer, I take loads of pictures constantly.
I love the camera. I can see the LCD screen easily and clearly, indoors, outdoors, day, or night. I really like that the camera automatically swiches to digital zoom after you reach the maximum optical zoom. I photograph landscapes, portraits, children and animals. All my shots turn out good.
Problems: None so far. Battery and memory card section door bit flimsy.
