I bought this camera secondhand at a good price. I have used many cameras, including a few DSLRs. The A550 is a joy to use. Excellent image quality. Sharp image, low noise at low ISO, acceptable at higher ISO, and good color. Battery life is very good, considering that it uses only 2 AA size battery. Performance is quick all-round, except for flash recycling which takes around 8 seconds, which I think is quite normal for a camera that use 2 AA battery. I've installed the CHDK hack into this ...

Best camera for entry level category.. it might give sony's overpriced models like w80 etc run for life. The picture quality is amazing .. this works even well without OPTICAL IMAGE STABLIZATION technology .. If u r luking for a simple POINT N SHOOT cam without compromising the image quality and burning fortunes then this camera is rite for u .. Problems: Everything is superb ..no complaints.. highly recommended One suggestion .. i wud have given this camera 10/10 if it wud have been slicker ...

Seems to be an excellent camera for the money. Easy to use. Menus and controls are pretty straightforward and intuitive. This camera seems to be faster and more responsive than the A530 that it replaced. The copy that I have seems to be a little better made than my A530 was. Shooting performance when flash is used is still sloooow, though. Bottom line? Excellent value. Problems: None so far.

I bought the camera for a overseas holiday, and I must say it was fantastic. Images are very sharp, It has a amazing video recorder, it's simple to use: infact it only took me a day to get to know it, Very good low light quality images. I did alot of research before purchasing the camera, and at the end I'm extremely pleased with my choice. I love Macro photography, and the camera does a nifty job in that department as well. The camera gives you fairly much space to experiment with and is ...

I've had my Canon 550 for about two weeks. I bought it to replace my lost Canon 520. Though I'm a very amature photographer, I take loads of pictures constantly. I love the camera. I can see the LCD screen easily and clearly, indoors, outdoors, day, or night. I really like that the camera automatically swiches to digital zoom after you reach the maximum optical zoom. I photograph landscapes, portraits, children and animals. All my shots turn out good. Problems: None so far. Battery and ...

We have, anyway my girlfriend has, bought the A550. Great little camera, good point and shoot, light and ease to use. Nice to take away on trips. Picture quality is good. I can compare it with the old Canon G2 and Olympus SP 500UZ. Really a pleasure to use. Problems: So far, none!

This is my first Canon camera, upgraded from Sony DSC-P72. The still image and video clip are so much clear when viewing in my PC. It is easy to use. Use AA battery and SD card. The image is clear and sharp. The lag time is hsort but not fast like DSLR camera. However, whatever features you need for P&S is there. If the wide angel can go to 28mm will be perfect. It is very reliable and easy to use. Problems: nil.

I got myself a new canon a550 a few days ago, it was made in malaysia, nothing much changed vs a530 and a540. Very disappointed, see below Problems: The LCD screen is unusable in places where there is an ample amount of light, the LCD "bleeds" and vertical blue lines appear on the LCD even on dim lights, what more when under the sun? When i opened the battery port there isnt even a sign of (+) and (-), so i made a trial and error on what pole is what... did i get a rejected unit? or just a ...
