Opinion: The camera is well worth the money. It takes great pictures and is easy to use. Lots of shoot modes that are easy to figure out if you spend a few minutes with the manual.
Problems: The only problems I have had are with the batteries. Keep extras on hand because it eats them up pretty fast.
Problems: 2 Words
"LAG TIME"
Opinion: Found the A530 at a store for only ¥19800 so took the plunge (impulse buy.) This
is my first Canon; I've always been a FujiFilm user.
Construction: The construction is good. All plastic body, and it feels light but not
cheap. No metal it seems, but consider the low price.
Features: Lots of features, ISO settings, vivid color, B&W, etc. Lots of pre-sets for
the novice and experienced user alike.
Image quality: Image quality is quite good for such a cheap camera. I was skeptical
at first, but it has impressed me so far. Night time shots haven't been so impressive,
especially when shooting at ISO 800. When viewed at 100% noise is definitely
visible, though thankfully there are no hot pixels, and no banding. If creative noise
is your thing, this may not be an issue. Flash pictures come out nicely. Macro
images stunned me with their detail! Wonderful macro abilities!!
Easy of use: Definitely usable for a first time photographer. No cryptic settings or
icons on the camera. It's all very straight-forward. The manual is well laid out.
Value for money: Excellent! It honestly performed much better than I had hoped. I
bought a small pouch for it to carry around, so it's my new go-anywhere camera.
Problems: Noise in night time, no flash pictures. I personally dislike using flash in general, but
the use of it will reduce visible noise.
Rear LCD can be hard to see in bright sunlight.
Opinion: I FOUND THE A530 AT THE SHOP FOR ONLY AU$289. FIRST CAMERA. A GREAT BARGAIN. THE IMAGE QUALITY IS BETTER THAN IT COULD BE. IT PRINTS CLEAR SHOTS WHEN YOU ADJUST THE PRINT SETTINGS. ITS REALLY EASY TO USE AND ITS FEATURES ARE GREAT. MOVIE MODE WORKS FINE BUT ITS NOT AS GOOD AS A REAL VIDIO CAMERA. MACRO MODE IS GOOD. BE CAREFUL WHEN TAKING ACTION SHOTS. PUT IT ON DRIVE MODE TO GET THE BEST RESULT. IT WAS A GREAT BARGAIN, IT WAS BETTER THAN I HOPED IT WOULD EVER BE.
Problems: YOU NEED TO BUY A BIGGER MEMORY. 16MB ISN'T ENOUGH. I GOT A 1GB CARD. IT CAN TORE 380-400 EASILY.
YOU NEED TO GET BETTER BATTERIES. I RECOMENED INCA 2600MA RECHARGEABLE DIGITAL POWER. AU$70 DOLLARS WITH RAPID CHARGER,(CHARGES WITHIN 3-4 HOURS.
