Opinion: The Canon PS A510 spoiled me bigtime! I got used to very sharp and clear pictures which needed no postprocessing before I could proudly show them to anyone.

Sure he's a little slow but it's time well spent. It used the best quality compression (takes a sec, yes) resulting in no visible artefacts in your picture (worth a sec!) unlike my new camera.

I never noticed the greatness of my A510 until I recently bought a Fuji S6500FD. Great and fast cam and better handling, but it's quality really disappoints me and I wish now I had not given away my Canon to my mum :). Only when shooting RAW image with this new cam the quality is comparable. But I still see a clear difference in lens-quality (canon being the better!).

Nowadays this cam won't cost much, so you can get an _awesome_ camera for few pecunia. I recommend it!

Manual settings are great to play with. Super-macro photo's are possible but take a lot of patience and focussng by moving the camera itself. But when you get the focus you want the result stuns you!

Problems: NO.

Opinion: After more than 2 years I got this camera and finally can write an objective review. I looked for 4x zoom, manual controls and optical viewfinder and got excellent value for money. 3.2 Mpixel is enough for 30x20cm prints. Mpixels are realy not so important. Generally for this familly: Very ergonomical and easy to use. Use of two AA batteries is a big advantage. Recomended for amateurs looking for more than just point and shoot in auto mode.

Problems: Position of tripod adapter away from the gravity center is big problem when shooting from tripod.
Objective cover is sensitive, ceep away from sand, dust and water, but it's general remark for many cameras.
Picture is distorted when shooting with wide focus.

Opinion: My first digital camera. Good for beginning. Lot of modes P, S, A, M, scenic modes - it is good for low-end camera. But it is not so fast, much slower than DSLR and it is the main problem for dynamic photographing (cars, trains, animals, etc).

Problems: Nothing ...

Opinion: This is an exelent choice for begginers in amateur photograpy, manual features let you make really good pictures. The 4x zoom and the macro works very well.

All this pictures were taken with it, take a look;
eternofluir.spaces.msn.com

Problems: No problems, if there were some would be due to the need of more advance features, but is not the objetive of this cam. Is far enough from what i spect.

hop you understand my english.

Opinion: I bought the A510 for my father and we're very happy with it. The A510 image quality came close to my Canon S60. It has nearly all the features found in my S60. The A510 even got a metal body for its price. I compared this A510 head to head with the S60 and I found the A510 was as good as the S60 except the slow flash cycle of the A510. The A510 is like my Nikon D50 but smaller. 3MP is exellent for 8x10 prints. It is perfect for family use because you do not need to print anything larger than 8x10.

Problems: Slow flash recycle. This is the ONLY weekness of this amazing camera.

Opinion: I bought this camera in October 2005 and took it to India for a holiday in November. My first digital camera, bought in 2002, was a Fuji Finepix 2600Z which I loved, its only real drawback being poor flash. I hoped to be able to control the camera and get better photos in, for example, poor light. I have been very disappointed. Whilst it is OK for point and shoot, with images which are nearly as good as the Fuji, it is terribly slow to take a photo, unlike the Fuji. Hence you often miss an opportunity.

Problems: The zoom is very hard to control - you need an incredibly light touch.

The time it takes to take a photo means that you can't use it for moving images, even relatively slow ones.

The cover on the lens is now sticking and I will need to send the camera for repair.

Opinion: I had this camera for a year now and I took over 5,500 shots so far. The ability to run in full manual mode makes this camera a great learning tool.

Overall, a very good camera.

Problems: Can be sluggish at times. For example, the flash recharge time is very slow and can be frustrating, especially when trying to capture indoor kids shots.

Opinion: It is Slow, This is what I did not like most from this camera. from shot to shot it need more than 5 seconds. It is not acceptable. but The new A610 and A620 solve this.
I hope Canon start making more zoom on compact camera using ricoh way (double retracting lens)
