Opinion: I love my new Canon. I read a few reviews before I bought it and I was a bit weary but whoever it was that reviewed that camera was wrong. I really like it. I'm very big into film and my SLR but when I use digital, I hardly zoom with it. I use it for fun and references. This camera fits perfectly into what I do and even includes so many extra bells and whistles. I love it.

Problems: The whole power on/off, opening the shutter thing is a bit odd to me and before I turned them off, it made a lot of noises which I wasn't to fond about. But I've taken care of the sound and will get used to the power sequences.

Opinion: I couldn't resist the A300 with 3.2MP at a sub $200 price. I thought it'd give my aging G1 a rest in the daily pull-out-on-a-moment's-notice shooting. Which it is. Very quick start-up time compared to the G1 (3 sec. vs. 8 sec.), good battery life with the 1800mah NiMH rechargeables, and it is acceptable for indoor shooting with the ample flash and focus assist lamp.

Image quality is very good for such an inexpensive camera, especially in well-lit shots. The small lens begins to show it's weaknesses where you'd think it would. Even then, however, the Canon, with it's DIGIC processing, AF assist lamp and sufficient flash, can pull off shots not previously possible in this price range.

Kudos to Canon for pulling off the steal-of-the-year thusfar in digicam buys!

Brian

Problems: There is a backrest at the fully-opened point of the lens cover which must be touched to turn the camera on. Otherwise, you're just uncovering the lens and missing a shot.

Opinion: Bought this camera before going on cruise. Took over 350 photos and only replaced batteries once. Camera was extremely easy to use and took many amazing pics. Got a 256MB CF card for it had over 250 pics on it and still had room for 100+ more. Camera is very small and easy to carry. Like the fact that the panel slides to cover the lens. A great camera for the price. Paid less that $200.00 USD.

Problems: None yet.

Opinion: This is a great camera for the first time buyer like myself, the image quality is truely amazing. I can recommend this camera. It cost me £160 and for a 3.2 mega pixles camera that isn't bad.

Problems: Did have some software problems to start with but now it's all sorted out. I can't stress enough that using Nimh batteries is a MUST. Normal AA batteries last for about 5 minuites.
