This was the first digicam I owned (though I had used plenty before I bought my own). I bought the 1280 because of the trusted name in professional (rather than amatuer photography) AGFA. I knew from using other 1280 digicams that were around at the time, to not buy a Kodak, Casio, Epson etc. I owned it for about 24 months. Excellent sharp photos, even blown up to 8x10's. I didn't realize how good till I used some other newer cameras at work and my Agfa was always better. Swivel body worked ...

An older camera now (November 2002), but still one with unique features that I enjoy. For near 1MB pictures, the images display beautifully on a monitor. Plastic body is disappointing, but swivel lens with flash is a plust for design; also, menus are logical and easy to use (why did Agfa drop this design?). Threaded lens is another nice feature. RJC Problems: Plastic covers for connections frequently opens; plastic, while light with good tensil strength, would have been nicer in a metal. ...

This is (was) a great (older) camera for short people. The swivel body allowed me to get pictures over crowds that would have been otherwise impossible. When many other digicams were the compact style I was able to capture great shots at decent resolution. The plastic body and delicate swivel need to be handled with care though. Problems: none

This was the 1st digital camera that I ever bought. I used it faithfully until I was introduced to the Sony DSC-S75. The week after I bought the Sony, my AGFA "died". The photos were actually quite good, considering the low resolution. Problems: Very slow

When the decision were made to buy a digital camera i was looking for the following features: 1- A robust camera in our harsh conditions 2- Quality and performance 3- Facility to use filters and additional lenses. And am I glad that I have chosed the very first Agfa E1280 in South Africa. As a wildlife photographer and the nature of my Eco tours in all kinds of conditions has the 1280 excelled itself. The slow loading time is certainly not a problem as I was looking for quality and ...

I purchased the camera May 1999 for only 4990.-ATS, that's about $330. Very good is the swivel lens design. January 2001, the camera survived 1.5m down from the tripod to stone ground. But in September 2001, the monitor of the camera did not survive when my 3 year old doughter stumbled with the camera. I just purchased for $150 an other AGFA 1280 for my doughter that she can continue to learn how to make photos. Annoying is only the software from AGFA. At every program start, the AGFA ...

i have owed the 1280 for about 2 years, and have found it very useable in most situations. mostly i use it for car show photography and am quite pleased with the results as most car shows are fairly well lit.but this cameras most impresive quality for me is the adjustable veiw screen as most people stand in front of a display, they have to wait for a clear shot to appear this could take quite some time if its a good display but in my case i just put the 1280 above my head swivel the screen ...
