Hi DPreview Friends, I just bought A77 few weeks back in a good offer, used it few times, before I have A57 and must say A77 ISO performance is not good as even A57, is it or I just feel that? My confusion about ISO is the lowest number 50 in Manual mode. which is the standard number for A77 50 or 100, which should be set for the best performance? If 100 would be standard what advantage or disadvantage I get if I go lower? Suggestion required. RegardsAfzal KhanKathmandu, Nepal

I've just upgraded from my A580 to a A77ii and I'm still finding my way through the new functionality. With my A580, I loved Focus Check Live View which lifted the mirror (ah, that old SLR design!) and allowed me to zoom in to fine tune focus. With the A77ii, it has a "Zoom" capability but that doesn't work when I shoot RAW (which I do). Initially, I was very disappointed but then I discovered that there is a "Focus Magnifier" functionality that I can assign to the button. Phew. But what is...

I'm learning to use flash, and brand new hvl-f43m/f60m is just too expensive for me. A friend of mine has suggested me trying an old-style minolta hot shoe (e.g: 5600HS, yay, its cheaper) on my sony A77mark2. I have a few questions as follows: 1. Is it possible to mount 5600HS on a77mII w/o adapter? I only need the flash to stand securely on the camera; they dont need to have any wired communication. The ADP-MAA adapter is just again, expensive, and not quite available in my country. 2. Is it...

Has anybody used the MK1 version of the 70-400G with the A77II? Does it speed up the often slightly slow AF performance of this lens?  Is it an improvement over the lens' AF performance when used with the original Mk1 A77? I use this lens for birding with my NEX-5R and LA-EA2 adaptor - horrible AF performance on that combination but investigations a while back suggested that the mk1 A77 would not be able to give me the AF I was looking for.  Now that the 7Dii has appeared I'm hoping there may...

I have decided to order the a77II camera. I am now trying to decide on which lens to buy for it. I have narrowed it down to these: *Tamron SP 24-70MM F/2.8 Di VC USD           VS         *Tamron SP 28-75MM F/2.8 Di *Tamron SP 70-200MM F/2.8 Di VC USD         VS         *Tamron SP 70-200MM F/2.8 Di I want a lens for portrait use with some zoom to it. Is there any reason to choose the higher models of these? Is image quality going to be about if not the same? I guess I am asking which would you...

I just got the A77mk2 and haven't figured out how to use the Center Lock on AF. When I turn it on, I am not sure whether I am supposed to hold the center button down while I am moving the camera following a moving object, or not.  Can someone who uses this feature explain how they use it? Much thanks, Jerry

First of all: sorry for my bad english :D So, what could be better for video, RX10 or A77 mkII? I have not had direct experience, but I have seen many videosample about the RX10 and a77 (old one) and I got the idea that the compact camera, also updated with xavcs codec, is much suitable for videomaking. However, a77mk2  seems to have been revised both from the point of view of autofocus that of high iso (I always speak in the video field). Unfortunately, he lacks the headphones output and...

Hi DPR friends, I just bought my A77 just 15 days back, now i am thinking about add one grip for it. I saw in internet find a Sony original one about $300 which is way too costly for me as a grip. Hope to get some useful...

I'm trying to figure out a good prime lens to purchase for small product photos. My camera body is a Sony A77. I already own a 18-200 Tamron DiII macro but it was my first SLR lens purchase so I bought a lens that I thought would satisfy me for the next few years...no way! Now I'm on ebay everyday hunting down old Minolta primes-but even they can be somewhat costly for the good ones. I just want to know what mm lens would be best for shooting things as small as jewelry and cosmetics to larger...
