When I look at a given prime lens on DXO, the scores on the A7R are much higher for the same lens and often marginally better on another APSC camera like the A5000, which has fewer but larger pixels. Are these lenses just not able to resolve sharply enough for the small A6000 pixels? Are the smaller 24mpx too much for an APSC sensor? But, if that is the case why does the A6000 have so much more detail than the NEX6 on the DPReview studio comparison screen? The A6000 looks almost...
I have the back off RX100 and a flight soon. I'd like to disable the picture review button as it is causing random and repeated switching from off to review to take shots. Following Grom1300 posting I was inspired to have a go and he mentions removing a metal shim to disable SWITCH BLOCK CONTROL 149043511. But I can't make out what he means and it not obvious how to access the switch (between a mount plate and the rear outer casing) or how to disable it. A thin plastic shim slipped between...
Hi, It's been a while that I posted my first thread about getting my first dslr-like camera. I bought my Nex-6, and I'm quite happy with it. My only concern is that sometimes the camera doesn't seem to work as intended... I don't know if it's normal or it's an issue, but I began to think that my copy has a sensor problem (I bought 2nd hand from ebay). Sometimes when I half press the shutter the image in the viewfinder and on lcd, for a fraction of a second seems well balanced and lit, then...
My NEX-5R recently failed. I ended up replacing with an NEX-5T because there was a special on where I could get it new with the EVF included for the same price as a used NEX-6. I'll probably be adding a second body at some point, though, which will probably be from the 6 series. I'm looking at getting a microphone because I was wanting to shoot some interviews, but the have different ports. Is there any way to adapt the smart accessory microphone to the hot shoe or vice-versa?
So, I was really happy using my Sunpak 344D (for Nikon) flash on my a6000 and NEX-6 using a cheap multi-interface to standard hot shoe adapter I picked up on ebay for less than $15. All I had to do was put the flash on, popup the built in flash on the camera, and tilt it back so the on-camera flash was not pointed directly at the subject. If I didn't popup the built in flash, then the live preview would not work, and the preview image would just be a black screen, but wih the popup flash up...
Dear DPReview Community, once again I request your aid. You've helped me pick a camera and lenses before, but indeciveness has reared its ugly head again. Over the past week, I've pored over articles, sample shots, videos, etc and I really can't make my mind. I've noticed that I tend to take more portrait shots (with a SEL 35, which I love) than other types, but I also want to continue my quest of travelling once a year to a far-off country. I've got a budget of about $800 for lenses. So it...
Hey everyone, I am trying to update my NEX-6 from firmware 1.01 to 1.03 on my computer right now. As I connect the NEX6 to my PC (Win Vista), it first goes into "USB Mode", then a message pops ups "Check the connected device". I don't have the USB Cable that came with the camera, so I'm using a non-Sony USB cable. I tried switching the USB modes between "Auto", "MTP", and "Mass Storage" and they all give me the exact same error message. I tried using a different USB cable (also non-Sony) and...
I've listed my Nex-6 to finally upgrade to the A6000. I've added a paid timelapse app and free apps - phone remote, picture effects and catch light (never used but it was free). Should I delete these apps so sony playmemories allows the timelapse app to be added to a new camera? I'm sure it would help sell it but it's a fun app and I'd prefer to retain it. And this should be good news for Sony aps-c fans. Last year when I bought the Nex-6, Sony announced the A6000 one week later and...
