Product description
Announced Sep 12, 2012

The Sony Alpha NEX-6 is a 16MP enthusiast mirrorless interchangeable lens camera which builds on the features first seen on the NEX-5R, including Wi-Fi, in-camera apps and on-sensor phase detection autofocus. In addition it gains the high-resolution, 2.3M dot OLED viewfinder previously seen on the NEX-7, plus an external mode dial.
It also becomes the first NEX camera to feature Sony's Quick Navi interactive control panel and an ISO-standard hot shoe. Sony is pairing the NEX-6 with a 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 retractable power zoom lens, creating a much smaller zoom kit than was previously possible with the NEX system.

Our review

The NEX-6 offers a highly attractive combination of excellent image quality, courtesy of Sony's proven 16MP sensor, enthusiast-friendly ergonomics (including a mode dial - a first for the NEX-series), a 'real' hot shoe, an OLED electronic viewfinder, and useful features like Sweep Panorama and Auto HDR. That said, the NEX's user interface isn't for everyone, having to download (and sometimes pay for) apps can be frustrating, and for best results you'll need to shoot RAW.

Good for: Enthusiasts who want great photo and video quality, fun-to-use features, and more traditional controls than other NEX models.

Not so good for: Not much - we'd like to see touchscreen interface though, and some people will resent paying for some of the 'apps'.
