Upgraded from a100 to the a700 in June 2008. V4 firmware upgrade late last year has helped make this DSLR a gem. Compatability with Konica Minolta lenses, in camera stabilisation, heaps of PRO features and intuitive user interface also make the a700 great value for money. The optional vertical grip is great! Very happy indeed! Problems: Initially the a700 was too noisy in low light using 400+ ISO settings but V4 firmware has fixed this.

Upgraded from KM5D and wow! what a difference. Everything is so much faster - shutter, focusing, interface, memory card. Bought with the 16-105mm zoom which is way better than the 18-70mm. Problems: No issues.

I've had many cameras over many years and this is the best so far. Well built, great user interface, especially the quick navi system (only gripe is the top plate buttons - ISO, Drive Mode and WB - don't fall to hand with the camera to your eye. Not a big issue but I have to look to use them). DRO is quite amazing - changes how you feel about jpg vs. raw (I'm still torn between the two!) Firmware v4 sorts out early noise and over-reduction issues, IQ is now very good (though I prefer the ...

The A700 is superb in every respect. This is a solidly built professional tool. It is easy to use and is rugged. The image quality is outstanding and the menu is intuitive. Button lay outs take a little adaptation and I still need to look at times. The A700 will be with me for the next 10-20 years. The image quality on the A700 is significantly better than my now sold Sony R1. There is more detail in the images - as long as you buy good glass. I personally use only Sony G, new Sigma and ...

after 8 months of using the little brother A200 succumbed to the temptation and got the A700 also. Fantastic camera, totaly happy with the purchase! for 1000 USD there is no other camera to offer more for amateur and even (semi) pro. great low light capability after the last formware update - usable shots at ISO 3200, great at 800/1600. a hord of great quality minolta and carl zeiss autofocus lenses available to go with it - almost craving to get a second one, just in case as I don't want a ...

I switched from a Nikon D300, with all the gadgets to the A700 with the equivalent equipment. Surprise - the switch was fairly easy, quick review of the manual, added the battery grip, already comes with a remote, did the V4 firmware upgrade to have the ability to turn noise reduction off. Side by side images, of my local favorite showed no visible difference in the image and this camera works seamlessly with the mac and adobe software. Very impressive. Overall performance and quality is ...

Upgraded to my A700 from my KM 5D. I love this camera! It works great with all my minolta lenses and I like the 5fps shooting, with a fast card I'm never waiting around. Startup is very fast and I don't have any dust issues - I have had it for 9 months. Since V4 Firmware you can put my image quality rating to a 5. I think for the money this is the best camera you can get but to be honest in this price range there are no bad cameras. Battery life is superb. Problems: I'd like a custom self ...

Moved up from the A100. Wow !. This fine machine is an all around winner. I guess I really won't understand firmware V4.0 as It came out the day I picked it up and put it on. Wins on user interface , build, size, features (DRO and SSS) and of course takes great shots. Highly recommended! Problems: None
