I've been working with Minolta gear for ages, some of my best pictures were made with the Dynax 7 film camera and their Rokkor lenses. It was quite a bit disappointing to wait so long before a Minolta DSLR came around...A large assignment forced me to change to Nikon.. but I still have and use my Minolta goods. When Sony took over from Minolta.. it was just a matter of time before we would see and enjoy the digital know how of Sony in a DSLR. So, I acquired an A700.. to use my large set of ...

I have a lot of top Minolta lenses and this camera takes the best out of them. Exceptional ergonomy, top image quality are the plus points of this camera. Of course it needs firmware update to v.4 It is a fast camera, even it doesn't sport the same ultra-fast Multicam AF module in my opinion it is far better precise. The AF illuminator (red) is light years behind competition and it allows AF to perform great in low light. Also noise at high iso level is a non-problem as soon as you will ...

The feedbacks from so many users of this camera is a clear testament of how good it is as a photographic tool. I Problems: None. Live view probably will make this camera even better.

+ Sturdy aluminum chassis/magnesium body with superior environmental sealing (although not waterproof like Pentax); built like a tank!!! + Somewhat heavy & bulky, yet lightweight when compared to Nikon D300/D300s, Canon 40D/50D, or Pentax K10D/K20D counterparts; thanks to its great ergonomic shape, can certainly fit most hands like a glove! + Clean albeit deep interface, TWO WHEELS plus many handy buttons (DofF, ISO, preference settings), a huge bright optical viewfinder (Pentaprism) + No ...

This is an excellent camera. Tough. Fast. Simple. Reliable. This camera is extremely fast and responsive at 5 frames per second and minimal lag time from recording to reviewing. The shutter sound is also music to my ears. It has user-friendly controls, wonderfully placed buttons, and a very well laid-out interface. It also has a beautiful lcd screen. I will repeat, a beautiful screen. It makes reviewing and correcting your shots right in the middle of the field very easy and convenient. Other ...

For the current price, the Sony a700 is the best camera on the market. The CMOS sensor combined with the features and the layout of the controls (the BEST of any camera on the market at this price and even if you paid $1,000 more). The AF speed is superb, and the layout of the controls is extremely useful, particularly compared to other Brands. A couple of things that could have made this camera even better would be one more customizable button. Also, I'm not crazy about the Sony software, ...

Upgraded from KM5D and wow! what a difference. Everything is so much faster - shutter, focusing, interface, memory card. Bought with the 16-105mm zoom which is way better than the 18-70mm. Problems: No issues.
