Opinion: The close focus on this camera is terrific. It can close focus to 1/2 inch. No macro setting needed; just keep moving the camera closer and closer to the subject. Here is the back of my watch that I took by an open window with the camera about 2 inches from the watch:

The 10X zoom lens is also very handy. The lens is equal to a 40 - 400 mm zoom lens on a 35 mm camera.
The camera uses regular floppy disks for the storage medium. I just take the pictures, pop the floppy out of the camera and into the computer A: drive and there I am. No cables or sotware needed to connect to a computer. On vacation, I can fill one floppy, about 36 pictures, and then put in another one. I don't have to worry about downloading internal memory or flash cards to a computer. If someone wants copies of the pictures I have taken, I just hit "Disk Copy", put in a blank floppy to make copies and hand them that.
The Mavica uses a rechargeable lithium battery, good for two hours. I have gone on cruises, filled several floppies with pictures and not had to recharge it. Most cameras use AA batteries and eat them up.
The maximum resolution of 640x480 may be a drawback to anyone who wants to have large prints made. I have had 4x6 prints made and I would say they are very adequate.
But for ease of use, problem free, I would say this camera is tops for electronic media, the internet etc..

Problems: I bright sunlight, it is hard to see the image on the screen. This is a drwback with most cameras. I intend to get a hood shade for it one day.
