Sony Cyber-shot DSC-V3

I have had this camera nearly since 2005. In the beginning it was difficult to use may be because I am old and not fammiliar with modern cameras. But learning the cameras facilities took a litle time. After some time the camera gave me good pictures, sharp and in good colors. I was lucky to find one of these in mint condition. Easily the best low light focusing camera I've ever had. Not pocketable but solidly built. It asks for the flash in conditions I wold not expect it to, so I spent much of my first day with the flash disabled. Got this camera in fall 2005. In general have taken lots of great vivid pictures and videos, and have become functional at using the wide variety of features this camera has to offer, such as Shutter Speed and Aperture adjustment. A great camera - what else to say. I think it's a legend now. Full of features, well built, great-looking, compact-sized and - above all - making wonderful photos. The near perfect compact, Sony V-3 is almost legendary if not already. For good reason too. Raw capability (tiff too), excellent IQ from a good sized sensor that isn't overstuffed, best built Sony compact to date, decent screen in todays standards, excellent when launched, OVF included. Fast and accurate Autofocus is another turn on. Big grip (almost too big for a compact), with two media types simultaneously behind a locked door. Good battery life too overall. Before the Sonolta dSLRs, were gems like this little baby. True, you get somewhat-to-alot better IQ with the bigger brother bridge cameras like the F828 and R1, but for the size...well, think about it. Back in the day, you may well have ended up with a non-Sony (dSLR) instead, if you had to have interchangeable lenses to justify the size. Dual memory is an awesome thing, and I love the serious, rangefinder look of the V3. This or the G9 are the biggest cams I'd consider owning with a fixed lens.

No words to explain this camera. It is simply fantastic. Unless the expensive price (750€ in Portugal) This camera is excelent in all categories. Problems: No problems, but I think that it is a little slow when I start it, but there´s no importance!

Someone said he was not happy with the flash on the V3 and that one should go to a dSLR for this reason and use. The V3 has an external flash hot shoe and I use an external flash for indoor shooting and it is awesome! Problems: I have yet to find a problem with my V3 except that it is too large for carrying in a pocket...not a P&S camera, but other than this no problems to report on this wonderful camera. I bought this camera used in "like new" condition on e-bay for a very good price. I mostly wanted the "nightframing" and "nightshot" capability not found on any other digital camera. I also was looking for a higher quality lens then found on my Sony P-200 and W7. I was not disappointed! As it turns out, the nightshot is more of a novelty really, taking grainy black and white photos in total darkness. Elegant, range-finder type design, with consistently well-exposed, sharp pictures. Was able to blow up photos to 20x30 inches without seeing fringing or other artifacts. Attractive, well modulated color. Good battery life. This camera is slightly too big to fit in one's pocket, but the fine quality photos make it worthwhile taking on travels. Highly recommended!
