Hi Everyone: I have been using the Sigma DC 17-70mm 1:2.8-4.5 zoom for several years now. I have an SD15. I recently had the opportunity to shoot a gypsy encampment in India. If I can't print my images sharply at 11X17 I don't consider an image successful. I know it is silly, but that is my craziness. In order to get that level of sharpness, I had to push the images a bit in post-processing. The pictures were taken at ISO400 and all were in the shade. Although I am fairly happy with the...
This image was taken with a Sigma Foveon SD15, 17-70mm lens, at 70mm, ISO 800, f7.1, 1/125 sec. I am very happy with this picture, as everything seems to fall into place: composition, color palette, background, and particularly the woman's expression, which is very Mona Lisa like. I need some help though. This picture was taken in the shade and is under-exposed. The problem is that the foveon sensor seems to struggle with subdued light. For instance, at 200% the integrity of the image begins...
For example: DP2 vs. DP2s? All my Sigma DSLR's are compatible with all my various converters. Therefore, my current philosophy does not include SD15, Merrill, Quattro. I am aware that the DPnX models have an AFE similar if not the same as SD15. So, not interested in those. Thinking of trading or selling the SD9 for a DP1s or DP2s model but first I need to know that, for example, FastStone Viewer will open a DP1s or DP2s file without color cast, etc. OT, but any comments about DP1s vs. DP2s...
Want to get a SD 14 or 15 for B&W IR work. IS there any difference between them for this use? I know the SD15 uses SD cards(which all my other cams use),but any other reasons to go for the SD15? Price is quite close on ebay it seems. AF is of no concern here Would be nice to use my Pentax & Zuiko glass somehow, without destroying the lenses..can the mounts on the SD be modified? the SD1 is about 2x the price & can see no real advantage, unless I missed something Thanks for any advice --LOVE...
Hi wonder if I can use Pentax K or Olympus Zuiko lenses on the SD15. As these are very cheap now, thinking to get one for IR work,& don't want to invest in another mount if I can help it. If not possible, is there a very good 28-105(35mm FL ) or so Sigma lens that works well with the SD15 Thanks --LOVE LIFE & LAUGHTER

Would it be realistic to use the SD15 or SD1 + long teles for birding? Is the AF & AF tracking fast enough? After getting hooked on DP3M,thinking of a SD 15 or SD1 body as IR is easy & practical, & wonder if it would also be good for birds? Or are the ISO limitations a big minus!!as now I use ISO 800-1600 with F4 teles. Thanks for any help --LOVE LIFE & LAUGHTER
Hi, I have been using the SD15 for the past two years and it remains a very rewarding experience. I have largely been immune to spec list jury about what is a good camera until now when I find that I am finically able to consider an SD1M. My dilemma is am I better buying a nice prime such as the 35mm F1:4 A or the 50 mm F1.4 and getting more out of my SD15. My interest in the sigma platform is with fine art and landscape. I would appreciate any views you are kind enough to offer. Kind regards
