Couple of questions on the SD1 1. Which RAW setting for Adobe capture is recommended in PP? I am using SPP and LR and PS for editing. 2. Is there a B and W RAW capture setting on the camera? If so I can' t seem to find it. I understand Firmware version 1.05 had this included. I have 1.09 installed on the camera. Thanks, Mike

I heard that you can shoot IR with the SD1 by removing a protective filter on the camera (without sending it to a shop) If that is true, does this apply to other Sigma cameras like the DP2s? My question reveals my ignorance about Sigma Cams. but I am curious to know if this is true.

Does anyone have any experience with Hasselblad (Zeiss) lenses on the SD1. Seems like these lenses would be good enough quality to produce the "goods" on the camera. Link Currently available on eBay for less than $100. Thanks, Mike

Want to get a SD 14 or 15 for B&W IR work. IS there any difference between them for this use?   I know the SD15 uses SD cards(which all my other cams use),but any other reasons to go for the SD15? Price is quite close on ebay it seems. AF is of no concern here Would be nice to use my Pentax & Zuiko glass somehow, without destroying the lenses..can the mounts on the SD be modified? the SD1 is about 2x the price & can see no real advantage, unless I missed something Thanks for any advice --LOVE...

Hi, A customer has a Nikon D3, while it's capable of some decent pictures they often require tweaking, esp. when using jpeg. We need to shoot a big amount of product pictures (denim), we would like to use jpeg mode as there are a lot of images and we would like to upload directly to the database. We've tried many settings with the D3 but colors are not great, pictures look ok but not when compared to the SD1 (which is mine, not the customer's camera) or the actual product. The SD1 seems to be...

Would it be realistic to use the SD15 or SD1 + long teles for birding? Is the AF & AF tracking fast enough? After getting hooked on DP3M,thinking of a SD 15 or SD1 body as IR is easy & practical, & wonder if it would also be good for birds? Or are the ISO limitations a big minus!!as now I use ISO 800-1600 with F4 teles. Thanks for any help --LOVE LIFE & LAUGHTER

Happy New Year everyone! I am trying to make my mind up whether to buy the SD1 or the DP2 and DP3. Originally I thought SD1 then I began to wonder ... I'm still pondering! Any thought about the relative merits of both choices would be most welcome...

Hello. I have a Sigma SD1 Merrill and I am trying to take Color Infrared pictures to obtain an effect which looks like the 590nm SuperColor filter effect from Lifepixel. With the internal dustfilter in place, I tried different settings for White balance (standard settings and also Grey, Magenta, Cyan, Yellow and green Grass). After removing the internal dust filter, I have used several external filters (yellow, red and IR) and combined these tests with Red and Blue colorswapping in...

I guess I'll be straight to the point, I've had powershot sd1200 for a few years now as my first camera and it has been loyal and served me well, but I've decided it's finally time to pull the trigger and get a more serious piece of hardware. My budget is around 300, with a little wiggle room, and I have ingested more articles, reviews and threads in the last week or so than I can recall, and feel like I'm only getting father away from have a solid choice. I had initially decided on a Nikon...

Hi there, I use the hyperfocal distance to maximise depth of field on a number of different cameras, for both street and landscape shots, and normally get very good results. I've noticed with the DP1m however that infinity and distant objects are more blurred than i would expect. This is still the case when shooting on a steady tripod. There are two obvious possible conclusions: (1) I am using the wrong distance. From the Dofmaster online calculator I get a distance of 2.28m at an aperture of...
