I bought this lens with the SONY A- mount lens mount. It's amazing pictorial glass I wanted it for use in their NEX7 but there is a big problem! The lens can not AF with LA- EA1 reduction in broad focus ostri well but the focus of 50 mm are at greater subject distances out of focus . In AVH service I was told of the lens in this configuration incompatible with SONY NEX7 . That same lens I tested the SONY A57 with the body 's AF 100 %. With the reduction of the LA- EA2 translucent mirror lens on ...

I've not bought it yet but I'd love to. ..done a bit of research and looks awesome: Sharp images (except for the extreme corners at wide angle) and light transmission in overall A fine piece of glass (FLD) Fixed aperture at 2.8 (great thing for low light conditions) OS is rumored to be excellent I wouldn't mind a bit of vignetting at wide open (easy job in Lightroom) I'd say it's ahead of Tamron's 17-50mm ...very reasonable for it's price ...I guess it'll work fine for my D5100 I rate it ...

This is a good lens. There are many pros about it - like good weight/balance, solid construction, excellent sharpness, accurate and fast focusing in good lighting - but there are some issues as well - like no full time manual, and inaccurate and slow focusing in poor lighting. Overall, it behaves well for a standard zoom. I don't expect this 600 dollar lens to blow me out of the water, but it has delivered for the most part. It is a much better value than the 1000 dollar Canon counterpart, ...

I bought this lens after I sold my Tamron 17-50 f2.8 VC. Now after 10 month I did many pictures in various conditions with Canon 550D Body. Mostly I shoot outdoors during the day and evening, and occasionally indoor without the flash. I did some travelling and made very very nice shoots. This lens is fast, sharp and good solid build. Handling as well is great except bit stiff zoom ring. Even though this lens is sharpest at f4, at f2.8 the image is very good as well. I made some pics to ...

Great so far I've owned it for about a month. I can not fine tune focus since I have a 60D so i was expecting I would likely need to send it in for calibration. Fortunately its A.F. is great right out of the box. To me the main thing Canon's 17-55 has going for it is the manual focus is easier to control - other than that I feel they are very similar. After having shoot with the Canon version last week I can offer this as a hands on comparison. I've seen reviews stating the hood was ...

This lens is really excellent. Very sharp, fast, AF works perfectly, and the 2.8 constant aperture is very useful. Build quality is excellent, and OS works very well. I'm very happy with it. The only thing that's a bit annoying for Nikon users is that the zoom rotates in the "wrong" way. But that's not a flaw.

Having had this lens only a month, using on my Canon 7D, I've shot enough to wonder why the other 7D user had problems. I am guessing (???) his personalized settings are causing his problems. This 17-50mm is behave like a champ for me. My only complaint is it could be faster and quieter. Image quality is as good as my L lenses. This surprised me, and pleased me: so much so that I just ordered another Sigma DC OS HSM FLD lens (the new version 18-200mm) Problems: noise

I have had this lens for about 5 months and it has performed pretty much flawlessly on my Canon 30D. My other lenses are all Sigma (50mm f2.8 Macro and 70-200 f2.8 Zoom) and this lens is on a par with both of them. Sharp with good contrast. No problems with focusing, quiet and assured but i'm not sure if the OS really makes a lot of difference. I think it probably helped in some shots although it was hard to tell. I bought the lens just before i went on a trip to Italy and got some great ...

I bought this lens for my Canon 7D. When it focused properly, the sharpness was fantastic. I also liked the relatively compact size and apparent build quality. Unfortunately, after using it for a few days, I was sad to realize that the autofocus was not working with my 7D. The central focus point worked well, especially in the middle of the zoom range. Accuracy dropped off dramatically at the ends of the zoom range and when using the peripheral focus points. I sent the first lens back and ...
