Bought a DP3M recently and absolutely love the images I get. I wanted to add a  DP2M for the wider angle. Now I've been offered a DP2 for a very reasonable price and looking at pics online the IQ of the DP2 looks pretty damn good; so how is it different from, or less than, the M? Thanks, George -- Joris1632

I'm unclear how to determine what DP2-Quattro setting for "Tone Control" was in effect for a specific image. The options are "OFF", "MILD", and "STRONG". The information box for SPP has OFF and ON for "Exposure Correction" which I suppose corresponds to the camera setting for "Overexposure Correction". However, it seems to change based on changing a setting in SPP. I suppose that isn't unexpected. There is a field for "Highlight Control" in the SPP Information, but it seems to stay at 0.0,...

I set the DP2-Q to interval of 70 seconds, and made 30 second manual exposures at f2.8 ISO 100 of the partly cloudy sky last night, with moon coming in and out of view. Temp in Colorado at about 6500' elevation was about mid 60's F. Mid-weight tripod. Wind speed ~ 8 mph, so clouds indistinct. Moon grossly overexposed, as expected. Overexposure correction OFF. Sound at MIN, but not OFF. Does 168 exposures before battery exhausted seem about "as expected"? Note: the SD card wasn't filled. Based...

SPP 6.0.5 pre-newbie and "5 day trial of DP2-Q", so "consider the source ". Here's more on RawDigger . I'm trying to figure out how much EC (exposure compensation) can be dialed into the DP2-Q at ISO 100 on tripod, with reasonable risk of blown highlights, to do ETTR . My speculation is that the histogram is based of JPEG pipeline processing, so it would be rather conservative. Or not? My observation is that Adobe's Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) does so much processing "behind my back" even with...

The DP2-Quattro "try five days" showed up today. Here's some questions I didn't find in the manual: Can the camera battery be charged in-camera via USB cable? Does the flash have any way to show it is ON when it isn't on the camera? Any test discharge? It apparently can be detected by the camera, and shows up on the LCD. What is Super-High resolution? Not applicable to RAW? I'm unclear on the purpose of the AF + MF mode. My guess would be something like getting the first image of a pano...

Hello! I recently used my sigma dp2 which has been idle for two weeks for some product pics. I noticed that my screen started showing magenta colored horizontal lines and bands but which disappeared when pressing the shutter but on a closer inspection I realized that it has affected the picture which leads me to believe its sensor related (?) HELP! is this common among sigma DP2 cameras? I really like this cam for what its capable of and is actually planning a trip soon with it as the main...

Question for Merrill users about SPP Auto review. I have had a DP2 for years and thought I knew my way around SPP. Just unwrapped my new DP2M today and trying first shots (RAW). My setup in camera is -2 sharpness which shows when the image loads at X3F setting in SPP 5.5.3 (with "brighter fonts" mod): When I click on "Auto" after about 10 or more seconds the sharpness sets to 0.0 and the exposure adjusts. No other sliders move. I've now tried this with a few shots and in each case the...

Hey, I'm looking for a camera which I could have with me more often than the large DSLR.  I want this camera mostly for portraits (let's say 50% of the uses), random day-to-day snapshots (30-40%) and possible street photography (10-20%). I love bokeh and I really need it :) My perfect fixed lens in FULL FRAME would be probably fast 40mm so I can 1) get bokeh, 2) shoot environmental portraits 3) do street photography. But with smaller sensors the bokeh part gets tricky.  I was basically...

I know, this has been done to death and no, I'm not too lazy to use the search function. I'm coming to the DP2-Merrill party late after over 4 years with the original DP2. At current prices it was just too good to ignore. Camera arrives in a few weeks (already in the house but I have to wait for Birthday) but amongst the various accessories I'm putting together, it is clear from reviews that I'll need a couple of spare batteries at least. My question for UK residents is: has anyone tried the...
