So I've been jumping back and forth between the GR and GR II. I guess part of me expected the GR to drop in price a little more after the second version was released, but the price seems to be largely unchanged; from researching I've found deals under 600 since November last year, which isn't far off from the ~560 dollar price right now (all prices are US dollars). But what has me much more confused is the weird price drop on the GR II. Like the first version, the second version started at a...
Hi Ricoh users, I recently bought the Ricoh GR after hearing some very good reviews, and personal preferences. However I'm new street photography and really like to expand my interest and enhance the quality of my photographs of day to day streetlife. So...any tips or tricks?
The one thing that continually bothers me is why the GR flash doesn't fire not matter how dark the setting. Had the camera at family reunion in a dark restaurant. Focus was awful. Searching searching searching. And no matter what settings I tried couldn't get the flash to fire please tell me how to make it work. Thanks
I just discovered the ND filter setting and ran out to see if I could get a great shot of people moving by, but my result is still a very overexposed image. I go Tv, set it to 2 seconds, Focus to ∞, White Balance to Outdoors and ND says NR-AT. New York was sunny today and I was standing in the shade shooting towards Bowling Green park. Am I asking for too much?Would a hood help?
Hi, I just wondered about the huge color differences between the JPEG and DNG version taken with my Ricoh GR. The first two images were shot with the same settings about 30 seconds apart. The DNG was exported to JPEG in LR4. I think the colors, particularly the blue-tones of the sky, are over-saturated in the DNG versions. Is this due to the embedded DNG color profile or the ACR converter? If I were using a different RAW converter would the results differ? Or am I the only one who thinks the...
This may be a silly question to experts, but I see many saying the iPhone 6 takes great photos, but how would you say the Ricoh GR is better than just upgrading my smartphone (I'm on a 4s now)? I want to shoot sharp photos on my walks through the streets of New York. Is there any comparison like the studio shot comparison between a Ricoh GR and an iPhone? Thank you
I wasn't too keen on the little rubber hood that came with the GW-3 wide angle adapter to begin with - but I've now managed to lose it anyway! Probably because of its poor design it simply fell off at some point when I removed the adapter. I don't see an official replacement for sale anywhere - but perhaps there is a better option anyway - perhaps a generic 62mm screw in petal hood? Does anyone on this forum know of a suitable solution? Obviously any third-party hood will need to remain...
