There's a good chance I'm going on safari again and I need some lens advice. The last time I went was several years ago and that when I only had a P&S camera. Everything is still in it early planning stages so I don't know if I will be going to East Africa or Kruger Park again. Also next year I will be replacing my G3+GF2 with the later models but I might hold onto the G3 untill after the safari. I'm thinking the third additional body may come in handy. So my ideas are G*+ 100-300 and GF* +...
I have been lurking here for years and now have a question that I can’t find an answer to, so I’ve registered to ask. I hope this is an OK place to put this question. We are finally moving up to B+W MRC filters after a lot of study and agonizing. For our first filter purchase (B+W 72mm UV Haze MCR (2C) 010M 66-070243) I found one Used at Adorama. I spoke to the sales rep about the condition since it is marked condition E (see below). The agent said “the glass is flawless” Needless to say,...
I have a K-01 and would like to know if there is a focus adjustment in that body? This is in reference to reading reviews of the Tamron 17-50 2.8 lens where reviewers were saying that they added +3 to a K-5 or -10 to a Kr to correct the focus with the Tamron lens. Also indicated that the Kx body did not have that capability. Any K-01 users out there using the Tamron 17-50?
I'm still enjoying my K-r since I got it a couple of years ago. Probably a few miles left on it yet. I've been wondering though, with the newer models (K5II, K-30, K-50 etc.) have Pentax bothered to enter the Newfoundland Standard Time zone as an option in the setup? This time zone is not available on the K-r and I'm forced to use Atlantic Time Zone (i.e. Halifax. Nova Scotia). Newfoundland Standard Time is UTC -3.30. Just curious... ____________________Andrew J. I took this photograph last week with my 7D and 100-400L at 400mm. The leopard was about 90/100 meters away and my settings were ISO 1 600, 1/250 and f7.1. I used my 600EX-RT Speedlight which gave the highlight in the eyes, even at that distance. The shots without the flash were duller. I rested the lens on a bean bag and the car was switched off so there was no engine vibration. It was about 45 minutes before sunset so it was getting dark and the leopard was in the shade. This is a...
I recently bought a Soligor 28 - 200 manual zoom lens with a Pentax mount at a swap meet. However, it won't mount on to my Pentax K200D or my Kr cameras. Do I need to buy a adapter in order to use it? The lens looks brand new and is quite solidly built. Any advice???
I'll be staying at one of the private reserves in the Sabi Sand area next to/part of the Kruger National Park and am looking for some advice on what equipment I should invest in. I currently have a Panasonic GX1 m4/3 camera with a 20mm prime lens and a 14-140mm zoom lens. I will also be bringing a Canon S90 with me. Some items that I've been suggested to invest in are: a Panasonic 100-300mm lens which I may not have much use for after the trip a Panasonic 45mm macro lens which I will most...
I am unsure what the difference is in the sensor between these 2 camcorders. The G20 has a "pro" series 1/3" CMOS sensor, whilst this does not appear to be the case with the XA10. Can someone please help me here. I currently have a Legria HF s20 and mostly shoot school sports and when visiting game parks (mainly Kruger). From a video quality point of view would there be any benefit in upgrading to one of the above? The upcoming G30 would be great for Kruger park (20x zoom), so would also...
