Hello, One of the camera stores nearby have these two lenses for sale. Both of them are similarly priced (around $200). The M42 mount lens is the second version with the serial number ending in 12. Which lens to buy? Both of them have pretty good reviews in the lens reviews section. Does one have any advantage over other? Is one sharper than the other? Thanks. --https://www.flickr.com/photos/maripalli/

Hello all, I am a Pentax newbie who recently bought a Pentax K-3. I was just going through my local craigslist to see if I can find any good used lenses and found an old VIVITAR 85mm - 205mm screw on lens for about $25. I know that its an old manual focus lens but for that price I am super tempted to buy. Even if I wont carry it with me all the time, I can use it to take photos of moon once in a while. I looked up on pentax forums and found decent reviews:Vivitar 85-205mm f/3.8 Lens Reviews -...

Hello Everyone, I am going to visit the underground river in Palawan, Philippines seeing stalagmites, stalactites. It is now one of the 7 wonders of the world. I have the Panasonic G2 that I bought in 2010. The cave is 1.5 km, very dark with just the aid of one flashlight for a group of 6 people. Should I buy another camera that can take lowlight or no light conditions? A lens for my G2 or a flash?  Bringing a DSLR is not really an option for this trip. Thanks! I am just a casual photographer.

I e-mailed Sigma yesterday re: the the release of the Sigma 18-300 lens for K mount cameras. Here's the disappointing reply that I received: Good afternoon, Unfortunately this lens is not available yet. We also don’t have an estimated shipping date. Our parent company hasn’t started taking orders for it from us yet which generally means that it is at least 3 months out. I apologize for the inconvenience. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great day! Best regards, Michael...

I can get my hands on a number of K-mount lenses from a friend. I see myself picking up a Pentax down the line, so I wanted to see if it would be worth it pick these lenses up now if I plan on getting one of Pentax' higher end cameras in the future. If Pentax does indeed come out with a full-frame camera in the next few years, would it make one that supports K-mount lenses without an adapter? It doesn't look like the company does so with its medium-format cameras, so I'm a little apprehensive...

I have the KonicaMinolta 11-18/4.5-5.6 and use it, primarily, for landscapes. I think it has too much CA, and problems with being sharp at the corners - but is there a better alternative? I see Sigma 10-20 and Samyang 10/2.8 as the best alternatives, but are they any better when it comes to image quality? It is to be used with A77 and I have no plans on going to FF. I have both Samyang 8mm and ZA 16-80 in my line up, so it's the gap between those two I would like to keep closed. Any...

I consider myself as a hobbyist ever since owning a Powershot A560 when I was 13, 7 years ago. I haven't used my camera for a long time due to school, yet I would still shoot with my phone or a colleague's DSLR during school events. Recently, my phone's rear camera stopped working, and my old camera is now worn out (my brother used the camera for quite a long time), thus I'm looking for a new camera. I like to shoot in low light, thus sensor size is important. DOF also seem to be important....
