I am having problems getting a sharp image from the K3. I traded-in my K5IIs about three weeks ago, but have yet to shoot what I would consider a sharp image. I shoot birds with a DA*300 and have had great success with K7 and K5IIs. I have tried various focus modes, check the front/back focus which seems to be OK but so far none of my shoots have been what I consider sharp. The following two images show the full frame and a 100% crop, which I think should be sharper than this? Or is this what...

Hi All, Its been a good while since I last posted in the Sigma forum, I currently have a DP1x which I still enjoy using for wide-angle. I recently went over to Pentax with a K-7 and FA 43mm lens (and a FA 20-35mm now sold). An example of my favourite shots of from that combo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hoopsontoast/sets/72157634134478729/ I have been thinking about moving back to Sigma for two main reasons: -I really like the body size/handing of the DP1x, I found I did not get on with...

When I had my K5 I was able to produce sharp results in PSE from handheld bracketed shots.  With my K5 IIs I no longer can and and get a blurred result when I use the auto method in PSE - (I have not figured out how to align the shots manually). Handheld HDRs were not possible for the K7 and the ability to produce sharp results from handheld shots was one of the improvements listed for the K5, but here again the in-camera alignment does not seem to work as well as it did in the K5. I am...

Why Pentax chose K-3 and not K-7 or K-9? If you go the other direction there is only the K-1 left. After looking at K-9 (relating to dogs) that may not be the best number:-D. ?, Tom W(ret) --...a bad picture is like a missed putt, it's never your fault.

I use a K-7, often with a Tamron 28-300mm lens. On occasion, the camera simply does not respond to the shutter button. I tried changing exposure conditions, thinking it was telling me I couldn't get a good picture under the conditions set, but that didn't work. Finally, I tried turning off the autofocus, and that did work. I am guessing that when the camera couldn't decide on a focus target, it simply gave up without letting me know why. (i.e. perhaps because the main object receded into the...

I've noticed on the Sigma 100-300 f4 and the first version of sigma 17-70 2.8-4.5 that there is a bit of wobble as to how the lens situates in the camera mount. It's not a snug fit on my copies compared to pentax or tokina lenses for instance. What say you guys? what is your experience? Are there only some copies that do this or is it more of more widely seen phenomena?... Sigma does reverse engineer - maybe Sigma needs to come only close to escape the wrath of khan ;-) I'm also feeling for...

Hello, I would like to get feedback from other users who have upgraded from the K-5 to the K-5 II or II S. My experience with Pentax started in 2010, with the K7 and a few Limited lenses (43, 70, 15). I really like the built, ergonomy, view finder, WR, and, small size of the K7 and K5. Those qualities and the Limited are the reasons why I chose Pentax DSLR, and, why I keep using them. Now, I'm very happy with the results with the K-5 and those Limited lenses for travel photography (see Japan...

I have a K-7 and usually travel with a Pentax smc DA 16-45 and a Tamron XR Di 28-300, which are about all the weight I can handle. I usually keep the Pentax on in narrow streets and use the Tamron for everything else. I do find myself switching from shot to shot occasionally, mostly for focal length. Are there factors I'm overlooking to make the best use of these lenses? Any advice for an upgrade, given that these pretty much define my price range? I do art photography and take most pictures...

My ancient K100D was stolen and insurance has luckily replaced it with a brand new K30! However  I can not get it to work like either the K100 or my K7: When using flash, either popup or the Metz 58 AF2 I have noticed the following issues (others I am sure) using the 18-55WR: Av consistently sets the shutter speed low.  At 55mm shutter speed is 1/40 zooming out to 18 it drops to 1/15.  Changing aperture or ISO does nothing to these shutterspeeds selected by the camera.  With flash down, it...

I recently tried my Vivitar Series 1 28-90mm lens, purchased with a K-1000 in the early 1980s with my K-7. Not even the shutter release worked! When did this happen? Does it mean my hoarded lens is now good for nothing? Any comments? I expected manual focusing, maybe manual settings, but usability.--http://www.flickr.com/photos/julian_w/collections/72157622610009199/
