Hi everybody. I'm planning on upgrading my gear a bit. I do mostly landscape and love (a bit too much) wide angle so I think I need to change my photography habits to improve my skills. I'm going on holiday in Iceland this summer and to make sure I make the most of it need some new gear. The trip will be expensive enough so I know I won't be going back anytime soon, hence the need to have a good reliable photography gear. For now I Have: - K-7 (with rear dial occasionaly not responding for a...

Hello, My name is Chris and this is my first post haha. I am an avid -non- pro photographer, i have the knowledge but not the equipment :) I have recently picked up some Mamiya/Sekor equipment from an estate sale. A complete kit including: Mamiya/Sekor 1000DTL camera with (what appears to be) the original leather belt clip/holster. Mamiya/Sekor AUTO 135mm f2.8 No. K71873 Mamiya/Sekor AUTO 55mm f1.4 No. 104916 (no lens covers for either lens) The owner sold me all the pieces for $50. I was...

I realize the title is very vague and open-ended so I'll give a bit of background and refine it a bit below.I recently moved to Nikon (from Pentax), and currently own/use a D5100 body.  I can't stand it.  Coming from the K-7, it feels very cheap and plasticky, and digging through the menus and seemingly jumping through hoops to change settings I used to have instant access to is tedious and I just don't enjoy taking pictures as much as I used to.  Additionally, focus is slow and seems to miss...

My new question(s) for the forum is regarding setting the focal length of lenses when specifically being used for macro and close-up work.  The camera system is new to us, and we have chosen two lenses to use with a K-7 body, namely a Rokinon P 105mm macro, and a Tamron SP 35-80 zoom.  The lens focal length setting is confusing for me since my wife will be shooting somewhere in the 1:5 - 1:1 reproduction range with the Rokinon, and judging by its length it seems to be more like a 150-180mm...

My wife just acquired a K-7 body used, and while we were inspecting it without a lens or battery in we notice a pronounced clunking sound when the camera is rotated on multiple axis.  I am assuming that this is the image stabilizer rolling on bearings without power, but before we get to excited, could someone please tell us if this is normal for this model of Pentax body?  When I did a search on noise it came up multiple times as an image quality result, I am looking for the physical...

I have just downloaded the trial version of DxO Optic Pro 9 but it does not recognise the .dng files straight from my K-3? It will load old .dng files from K-10. K-7 and K-5IIs with no problems. I have downloaded the appropriate camera/lens profiles. Has anyone used Optic Pro 9 with K-3 .dng files? If so, are there any special settings? Thanks Tony

I purchased one for my SO as a Saturnalia gift, and it's wonky. I get the same glitches when I put it on my K7 or her K5. The focus hunts more than it should, and then once it locks, it won't release or respond to the shutter button (either half or full press), obviously meaning you can't take a photo, which I find to be quite the bore. About half the time, changing the zoom prompts it to release, but the other half, only switching the camera off will see the lens cooperate further. Both...

I am having problems getting a sharp image from the K3. I traded-in my K5IIs about three weeks ago, but have yet to shoot what I would consider a sharp image. I shoot birds with a DA*300 and have had great success with K7 and K5IIs. I have tried various focus modes, check the front/back focus which seems to be OK but so far none of my shoots have been what I consider sharp. The following two images show the full frame and a 100% crop, which I think should be sharper than this? Or is this what...

Hi All, Its been a good while since I last posted in the Sigma forum, I currently have a DP1x which I still enjoy using for wide-angle. I recently went over to Pentax with a K-7 and FA 43mm lens (and a FA 20-35mm now sold). An example of my favourite shots of from that combo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hoopsontoast/sets/72157634134478729/ I have been thinking about moving back to Sigma for two main reasons: -I really like the body size/handing of the DP1x, I found I did not get on with...

When I had my K5 I was able to produce sharp results in PSE from handheld bracketed shots.  With my K5 IIs I no longer can and and get a blurred result when I use the auto method in PSE - (I have not figured out how to align the shots manually). Handheld HDRs were not possible for the K7 and the ability to produce sharp results from handheld shots was one of the improvements listed for the K5, but here again the in-camera alignment does not seem to work as well as it did in the K5. I am...
